◜𝙋𝙇𝘼𝙔𝙂𝙍𝙊𝙐𝙉𝘿

          THOUGH  THE  SAME  VIOLENCE  runs  through  their  blood,  there  is  very  little  that  connect  the  two  boys.  they  are  of  the  same  universe  yet  different  worlds,  two  different  sides  of  the  same  coin,  and  zane  knows  they  cannot  exist  in  the  same  space.

     their  very  existence  is  a  fight,  and  romeo  proves  himself  a  worthy  opponent.  still,  zane  will  always  believe  he  is  winning.

     he  returns  the  grin,  though  his  is  careful,  calculated,  less  proud.  wiping  the  blood  off  against  his  dark  pants,  zane  does  not  meet  romeo’s  eyes  quite  yet.  there  is  something  in  this  heavy  silence  that  thrills  him,  the  question  of  who  will  strike  first.  they  cannot  exist  in  the  same  space.

     «  you  reckon  you’d  be  a  better  bouncer  than  me,  »  there’s  a  slight  pause   as  zane  reaches  for  his  gloves,  «  ziyi  ?  »

✕   ╱         𝘽𝙊𝙏𝙃  𝙊𝙁  𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙈  had  similar  upbringings,  they  had  similar  treatments,  they  had  similar  scars.  if  the  world  was  gentler  on  both  of  them,  they  would  see  each  other  differently,  they  would  partake  in  the  same  pain  and,  perhaps,  conquer  that  underworld  together. but  because  they  were cut  from  the  same  cloth,  that  perspective  didn’t  survive  enough  to  become  anything  more  than  a  brief  utopia.     

zane  knows  how  to  push  rome’s  buttons  hard  enough  to  get  a  reaction  out  of  him.  he  knows that  at  the  mention  of  his  name  white  knuckles  would  be  shown,  his  neck  would  tense,  his  mouth  would  dry.  there  were  too  many  memories  latched  to  the  name  his  father  gave,  the  ones  that  haunted  him  on  good  and  bad  days.

this  routine  was  practiced.  the  phone  call  from  her  father  had  come  when  she  was  one  bong  rip  in  with  no  sign  of  slowing,  still  -  she’d  answered  and  known  the  request  before  he’d  even  asked.  ‘ meet  with  a  zhao  rep ’,  ‘ of  course, daddy ’ . part  of  the  toxicity  of  her  relationship  with  her  parents  included  being  dolled  up  and  presented  to  potential  business  partners.  the  ‘rents  argued  that  it  was  all  part  of  ‘ grooming  olivia  to  one  day  sit  on  the  board  of  byun  pharmaceuticals ’ ,  yeah,  yeah,  whatever  helped  her  mom  sleep  at  night.

she’d  expected  the  usual :  senile,  all  too  interested  in  her.  liv  would  bat  her  eyelashes,  soft  touches  to  their  forearm’s,  false  promises  that  taking  the  deal  on  the  table  would  be  worthwhile  for  their  investors,  but  seeing  someone  under  the  age  of  sixty  sit  across from  her  was  far  from  the  usual.  olivia  gauged  her  reaction  so  she  wouldn’t  seem  like  her  interest  was  piqued  -  but  it  was.  he  looked  familiar,  too,  and  fucking  edible,  but  she  couldn’t  place  the  name.  “ daddy  dearest  felt  it  was  paramount  i  met  with  you  in  his  place. ”  she  sounded  so  bored  that  a  yawn  wouldn’t  seem  out  of  place,  and  gazed  outside  the  window  to  give  lake  michigan  more  attention  than  him,  “ can’t  imagine  why. ” liv  hummed,  flagging  down  the  waitress,  

“ a  bottle  of  pinot  grigio,  whatever  the  sommelier  recommends. ”

✕   ╱         𝙈𝘼𝙔𝘽𝙀  𝙄𝙏  𝙒𝘼𝙎  the  lack  of  interest  that  made  her  even  more  interesting.  the  fact  that  she  didn’t  say  his  name,  nor  cared  to  do  so  --  the  way  her  eyes  were  focused  anywhere,  but  him.  he  wasn’t  egocentric  --  much.  but  still,  it  was  a  comfortable  pain  to  his  ego,  something  he  had  been  craving  lately.   ❝  it was paramount.  ❞  romeo repeated her  words,  perfectly  woven  to  that place  and  he  watched  as  she  placed  her  order,   ❝  as  for  me,  bring  me  my  bottle  of  wine  --  and  as  for  the  chef  to  surprise  me  this  time,  again.  ❞

         SHE  WANTS  SO  BADLY  to  mend  this,  but  certain  cracks  cannot  be  covered  with  even  the  sweetest  of  honey.  this  isn’t  supposed  to  be  easy  and  no  one  ever  told  her  it  would  be  —  and  yet  no  one  ever  taught  her  about  hardship  either.  she  has  been  a  runner  her  whole  life,  an  escapist,  and  she  has  done  it  well.  she  can’t  run  from  this.  she  can’t  run  from  him.

     tamsin   reminds  herself  that  she  needs  to  stand  tall  for  no  one  else  can  do  that  for  her,  and  bravery  has  etched  itself  onto  her  skin  like  a  permanent  burn  mark.  she  taps  into  it  now  as  she  looks  around  his  living  room,  the  aftermath  of  a  storm  littered  there  for  her  to  see.  «  jesus,  romeo,  »  she  whispers  low  enough  that  he  won’t  hear  and  she  is  itching  to  fix  this.

     she  is  itching  to  fix  everything.

     she  stops  there,  in  the  middle  of  the  room,  and  again  she  threatens  to  break.  she  stands  tall  though,  back  towards  him  because  she  doesn’t  know  how  to  face  him  yet,  and  she  lets  alva’s  words  of  encouragement  bleed  onto  her  mind.  she  can  do  this  —  and  even  if  she  can’t,  she  has  to.

     the  words  won’t  leave  her  though,  and  so  she  finds  herself  fishing  for  the  test  in  her  bag,  hearing  romeo’s  footsteps  nearing  her.  she  turns  then,  when  she  is  sure  he  is  close  enough  to  see  her,  and  though  she  still  can’t  find  his  gaze  out  of  shame  she  holds  the  pregnancy  test  up  with  a  shaking  hand.

     «  i’m  ..  »  tamsin  still  can’t  say  it  with  words,  can’t  deal  with  it  being  this  true  yet.  «  i’m  sorry,  »  she  says  instead.

      she  will  not  cry,  she  will  not  cry  now,  she  will  not  cry  yet,  but  if  he  turns  the  other  way  she  will  surely  bleed.

✕   ╱         𝙒𝙃𝙀𝙉  𝙏𝙄𝙈𝙀  𝙁𝙍𝙀𝙀𝙕𝙀𝙎  before  your  eyes,  you  start  to  reconsider  all  of  your  life  choices.  you  wonder  what  led  you  to  the  place  you  are  at  the  moment,  and  where  different  choices  would  take  you.  you  imagine  yourself  in  the  shoes  of  a  different  version  of  yourself;  and  you’re  never  sure  if  you’d  like  it,  but  then,  this  is  one  truth  you’d  never  see  truly  happening. 

when  she  shows  him  the  test,  he  finds  himself  yet  in  another  one  of  those  episodes,  where  he  is  mere  spectator  of  the  reality  that  unfolds in  front  of  him  and  shatters  beneath  his  feet  --  the  shards,  the  unhinged  edges  of  the  truth  grazing  against  his  skin  and  making  realize  that  this  time  there  were  no  where  to run  --  which  made  him  realize  an  even  harder  truth --  

he  was  alone,  he  would  ever  be  alone. 

❝  what’s  this.  ❞  it  was  a  rhetorical  question  --  like  a  child  who’s  testing  the  waters  with  those  who  they  love,  he  asks,  not  expecting  an  answer,  asking  just  because  he  wants  to  stretch  that  moment  of  desperation  that  makes  him  freeze  in  place;  makes  him  undone.  ❝  it  can’t  be...  ❞

romeo  didn’t  doubt  her  truthfulness  and  integrity  --  of  everything  in  his  life,  tamsin  was  still  the  most  wholesome  part;  even  though  within  her  lies  the  power  to  destroy  him,  as  she  has  done  before.  he  doesn’t  doubt  her,  not  for  one  second,  and  the  truth  weighs  his  shoulders,  makes  his  head  hang  in  desperation  as  he  holds  the  test  with  the  same  shaky  hands  as  her  own.  

he  didn’t  want  this,  but  that  onlooker  part  of  himself  whispers  in  his  hear  --  the  outcome  of  being  with  her,  with  them  is  something  you  truly  ever  wanted. 

his  mouth  is  dry,  his  fingers  tangled  on  his  hair  as  he  looks  up  at  her,  realizing  her  had  sat  at  some  points,  in  need  of  some  ground  to  place  himself.  maybe,  the  voice  whispers,  it’s  something  you’d  like  to  try. 

✕   ╱         𝙄𝙏  𝙒𝘼𝙎,  𝙋𝙀𝙍𝙃𝘼𝙋𝙎,  the  most  annoying  part  of  his  line  of  work  --  if  he  could  consider  that  the  “  serious  ”  part  of  it.  it  wasn’t  only  stealing,  forging,  laundering  money;  it  was  also  investing,  planning,  finding  the  best  opening  for  opportunities,  and  taking  it.  he  owned  an  art  gallery,  for  what  everyone  knew  of,  so  sponsors  was  what  he  needed. 

perhaps,  it  was  honestly  the  worst  part  of  it  all.  he  didn’t  enjoy  dressing  up  --  so  that’s  why  he  lousily  let  his  white  shirt  unbuttoned,  the  first  three  buttons,  letting  his  chest  tattoo  peek  from  there,  that’s  why  he  still  wore  his  earrings  and  messy  hair  and  the  thousands  of  dollars  watch  to  complement  his  look.  that’s  why  he  also  arrived  fashionably  late.  he  could’ve  arrived  on  time,  but  he  simply  decided  not  to.

the  restaurant  already  knew  of  his  visit  --  he  considered  buying  the  establishment  once,  but  then  refrained  from  it,  remaining  as  simply  a  loyal  client,  but  even  though  they  were  used  to  his  manners,  the  others  weren’t;  so  he  walked  in,  following  the  waitress,  and  enjoying  the  silence  that  bestowed  at  every  step  he  took  with  a  smirk  on  his  face.

and  he  barely  reached  the  table  when  he  recognized  --  the  way  her  hair  cascaded  down  her  back,  those  long,  crossed  legs,  how  bored  she   already   looked  even  though  he  couldn’t  see her  hazy  eyes  and  forever  pout. 

❝  only  talking  to  your  pops  on  the  phone  doesn’t  make  him  justice,  liv.❞  he  smirked,  coming  around  and  slumping  on  the  chair  in  front  of  her.  he  only  raised  one  finger,  and  the  waitress  rushed  to  get  his  usual  order.  ❝  and  i  guess  you’re  here  to  represent  him,  right?  ❞

          HE  IS  NOT  THIS  way  —  not  this  monster  he’s  been  groomed  to  become,  and  yet  the  quiet  boy  has  found  actions  speak  volumes  louder  than  words.  he  is  patient  and  always  waits  for  the  world  to  sleep,  but  there  are  carefully  crafted  rules  a  volcano  like  him  must  follow:  and  even  then  no  one  could  stop  it  from  exploding.

     buttons  have  been  pushed.  zane’s  fist  has  flown  and  perhaps  cracked  a  jaw.  the  man  that  had  attempted  to  start  shit  in  the  bar  with  him  just  a  few  minutes  earlier  staggers  away  now,  whimpering,  tail  between  his  legs.  some  men  are  very  many  words  and  very  little  action,  and  zane  takes  a  bizarre  pleasure  in  putting  them  in  their  place  —  mainly  on  the  dirty  concrete.  he  is  not  alone  though  and  he  feels  someone’s  gaze  resting  on  him  and  his  bloodied  hand.

      «  enjoying  the  show  ?  »  he  sarcastically  mutters  as  he  turns  to  face  them.

✕   ╱         𝙃𝙀  𝘼𝘿𝙈𝙄𝙏𝙎,  𝙄𝙏  was  quite  the  show.  zane  wore  a  façade,  even  better  crafted  than  his  own. controlled  and  collected,  he  was  owner  of  hidden  temper,  some  sort  of  scary  shit  that  romeo  could  never  pull off  due  his  boisterous  attitude  and  his  explosive  manners.  it  was  really,  a  show  --  watch  the  man  that  often  manipulated  the  atmosphere  around  him,  that  usually  kept  him  on  his  toes,  blow  up.

rome  watched  from  a  distance,  a  smirk  growing  on  his  lips  at  every  blow  zane  threw,  and  every  drop  of  blood  he  drew.  he  laughs,  even  --  wondering  how  sad  was  to  live  his  life,  of  holding  in  until  he  could  no  longer  handle  it.

         SHE  DOESN’T  HAVE  A  choice  but  to  seek  him  out  now  and  she  knows  it.  tamsin  has  been  hiding  since  finding  out  —  refusing  to  talk  to  many  others  except  alva,  finding  discomfort  in  anyone  else’s  presence.  she  had  always  been  quiet,  always  enjoyed  her  own  company  the  most,  with  the  exception  of  him.  things  between  her  and  romeo  had  inevitably  changed  though  —  and  they  are  about  to  once  again.

     tamsin  shifts  her  weight,  waits  for  him  to  open  up.  she  would  not  normally  show  up  like  this,  unannounced  and  clearly  not  with  the  intention  of  moving  far  away  from  her  own  apartment.  she  is  wearing  an  oversized  t-shirt,  a  pair  of  jeans  she  didn’t  even  know  she  owned,  and  she  looks  tired  —  she  IS  tired.  the  past  few  days  have  been  a  blur  of  desperation  and  sadness  and  nervousness  all  the  same  and  now  she  has  to  tackle  all  of  that  at  the  same  time,  with  the  man  she  thinks  she  fears  the  most  at  that  moment.

     he  can  turn  her  away  so  easily,  and  she  doesn’t  know  if  she  can  survive  that.

     the  door  opens  just  as  her  bravery  is  about  to  run  out  and  she  finds  herself  face  to  face  to  romeo  with  a  secret  between  them  that  she  doesn’t  know  how  to  voice.  the  pregnancy  test  is  suddenly  heavy  in  her  bag,  the  two  lines  flashing  before  her  until  she  clears  her  throat.  «  we  need  to  talk.  »  she  pushes  past  him  and  into  his  home  before  he  can  protest  —  and  before  she  can  change  her  mind.  it  doesn’t  matter  if  none  of  them  wants  to  be  there:  this  isn’t  about  only  them  anymore.

     he  deserves  to  know.  he  HAS  to  know.  she  cannot  do  this  on  her  own.

✕   ╱         𝘿𝙀𝙎𝙏𝙍𝙐𝘾𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉  𝙒𝘼𝙎  𝘼  a  method  of  consumption.  he  used  of  this  to  escape  reality  --  and  it  began  from  the  inside.  he  had  a  collection  of  empty  bottles  adoring  the  dinner  table,  as  if  it  was  part  of  the  decoration.  he  had  empty  bags  of  cocaine  sprawled  all  over,  as  if  the  fine  white  powder  was  just  a  thin  layer  of  dust,  he  had  cigarette  smoke  hanging  in  impossible  corners,  just  because  he  could.  

he  wanted  to  destruct  himself,  and  was  counting  on  it  

then,  destruction  bled  into  his  action.  profanities  were  said  at  every  given  time,  a  string  of  those  to  which  he  hoped  get  tangled  in  and  never  come  back.  he  was  aggressive  to  his  finest,  from  the  offensive  words,  to  his  movements  --  debilitated,  slower  than  the  expected,  but  there.  

destruction  had  made  him  lethargic  --  from  what  his  father  had  done  to  him,  to  what  he  has  done  to  himself,  using  trauma  as  an  excuse  to  kill  himself  slowly. 

but  then,  he  thought  he  had  found  salvation,  and  that  was  is  primal  mistake.  he  didn’t  know,  he  was  not  raised  to  be  cautious,  he  was  not  raised  to  be  loved  --  how  would  he  know?  to  not  make  house  out  of  people,  for  when  they  leave,  he  would  be  homeless,  to  not  pour  into  people,  for  when  they  spill,  he  would  drown  alone,  to  not  ler  people  see  that  the  thieving  king  was  only  a  thieving  boy,  starved  and  scared.  

and  she  had  seen  all  of  that,  and  it  was  his  mistake.  it  was  his  own  mistake  to  believe  he  could  be  good  enough,  that  she  wouldn’t  find  better. 

she  had  destroyed  him  more  than  he  could  destroy  himself,  and  that  was  something  to  say.

he  opens  the  door  to  see  the  hurricane  in  the  shape  of  a  girl  standing  in  front  of  him  --  defeated;  and  he  can’t  hide  the  desperation  on  his  voice,  he  can’t  hide  the  desperation  crossing  his  face.  ❝  what  happened?  ❞  he  watches  as  she  walks  past  him,  as  she  enters  his  apartment  and  at  how  starking  it  was  to  have  her  there. 

the  grip  she  had  around  his  heart  was  too  tight. 

“you know, maybe this won’t be so awful.” she was still clearly getting comfortable in this new body and you know, it wasn’t nearly as bad as being literally chained to someone for a couple of days – that’s what she was mainly happy about out of all of this. “i’m gonna pretend i’m like one of those twins in white chicks. just with less vanessa carlton.”

✕   ╱         𝘼  𝙎𝙄𝙂𝙃  𝙀𝙎𝘾𝘼𝙋𝙀𝘿  his  lips  as  he  tried  to  shift  into  a  more  comfortable  position  to  use  his  ipad  having  nikita  sitting  on  top  of  him  --  which  deemed  impossible.  he  moved  again,  grunting   ❝  you’re  so  fucking  haevy.  ❞   he  pushed  the  strands  of  her  hair  that  was  tickling  his  face  away.  ❝  besides,  you  don’t  need  to  sit  on  my  lap.  ❞

❝  ———  fuck,  who would've thought... ❞

‘ you really think that being positive is gonna fucking help your situation ? ’  they gesture between the other two,  ‘ you’re both literally the worst people to be tied together, i think it’s some cosmic karma for you both being so fucking annoying. ’

        ❝   YOU  -  YOU  know  WHAT  .  .  .  ugh,  whatever  !  alva  i  didn’t  expect  you  to  be  such  an  a-ass  today.  fuck  you  both.   ❞   leg  is  thrown  over  knee,  girl  turned  completely  away  from  the  others.

“Oh my god, Nik, me too. Thank god for condoms but you never know if there’s a sneaky hole in there somewhere.” He turned over a bottle warmer in his hands, looking at the machine in confusion. “Even if you’re not parents you could, I don’t know, offer some help?? I’m too fucking young to have a kid – I don’t even know how this fucking thing works!” He tossed it back onto the counter. “Fuck, I hope that didn’t break. Shit is expensive. And anyways, what the fuck is up with you two?”

        girl  tugs  the  cloth  from  rome’s  hands,  pulling  it  to  wrap  tight  around  her  torso.   ❝   and  your  breath  s-stinks.   ❞   there’s  a  full  smile,  thoughts  racing  of  ways  she  could  continue  to  make  romeo’s  life  miserable.  hand  is  shoved  into  his  perfectly  sorted  pile,  mixing  and  tossing  the  colors  together.   ❝   it’s  fine,  you’ll  be  fine.  how  hard  can  it  be  right  ?  have  you  called  child  services  ?  –  you  -  you  know,  you  can  .  .  .  can  find  someone  to  take  it  in.   ❞

“aw, yeah.” sejun’s half lidded eyes barely paying attention to whatever nikita was saying to him. “grey is definitely your color, it makes you look ten times prettier than you already are.” he was way past fucked up at this point to even notice romeo next to nikita. “rome too, you both look really good.”

✕  ╱         𝙃𝙀  𝙎𝙏𝙍𝙀𝙏𝘾𝙃𝙀𝘿  𝙊𝙉  the  couch,  not  caring  about  how  comfortable  nikita  would  be  or  not,  but  quickly  sat  up,  fixing  his  hair  on  the  process  and  putting  the  cushions  back  on  place.  ❝  so,  what’s  gona  be  tonight,  babe? ❞

alva looks over to where nikita and rome are literally tied together and barks out a laugh,  ‘honey, grey washes you out and makes you look more like a whitey. ’

      ❝   ALVA  !  did  you  just  call  me  white  ?  god  -  i  -  i  was  just  being  positive.   ❞
