Call of Duty : Warzone – Infinity Ward
Warzone is a new free-to-play Battle Royale set in the Modern Warfare Universe Call of Duty. Since the Modern Warfare Season 2 update adding a locked game mode in the title menu, fans have known this is coming for a while now. New players don't have to own the full Modern Warfare version to access Warzone. Nonetheless, they would have a considerably larger download file than base game owners at 83 – 101 GB. Warzone can be downloaded by Modern Warfare owners at 18 – 22 GB.

What makes Warzone different
Battle Royale and Plunder
Warzone launches for players to participate in two separate modes: Battle Royale, and Plunder. Both modes allow for the queue of up to three players for a match. Players who are queuing alone or with a team of two can opt to fill in the extra slots. But even if you're queuing solo you'll still face three squads once in the match.
Exactly what players have come to expect from the genre is the basis of Battle Royale: a certain number of players (in this case 150) parachute onto a massive map and fight to be the last alive as an ever-invasive ring of doom closes on them. Warzone takes the formula and ideally injects it into the fast-paced battle for which Call of Duty is recognized.
In Plunder, players battle by stealing, killing other players or completing contracts to hoard the most cash. Players can bank their cash by calling to collect it in a helicopter or using a cash deposit balloon that can be found by stealing or purchasing at a Buy Station. Other players can't steal banked cash.
Buy Stations come in all game modes. They allow players to spend money earned in-game by stealing, killing other players, and completing contracts. They contain various items intended to help the player's squad progress. Items include kill streaks, weapons, self-revive kits, loadout drop markers and dead squad members redeployment. They may be marked by a shopping cart icon on the mini-map.
Epic Loot
Warzone has loot crates abundant in the world, containing everything from the armor to legendary weapons. Taking the loot tier system from other games of the genre is one thing Infinity Ward has done: gray for common, green for uncommon, blue for rare, purple for amazing, and orange for legendary.
Each tier comes with different weapon attachments. I may find a typical M13 that has no attachments, for example, or a rare M13 that boasts a sight and a barrel mod. It gives the players desire to try and find the best loot, at least in the match's early moments.
Conclusion
Warzone isn’t perfect. Nevertheless, it takes and builds upon existing conventions of the genre, adding its own twist to make the game enjoyable and fulfilling for all players. The gameplay loop is satisfying, even though the amount of respawns currently normal in the game can get a little hectic towards the end of the round.
An extra bonus is that the Call of Duty Battle Pass: Modern Warfare carries over into Warzone. War Pass, knowledge of advancement, and skill with weapons advance no matter which game you play. If you're also a fan of Call of Duty and the Battle Royale genre, Warzone should check all the boxes that matter. It'll be fascinating to see what Infinity Ward adds to or updates to the game to go forward. You can share gaming clips of your gameplay on Rcade.
