So because I used to work with a lot of young men, I've seen/read a lot of manosphere shit (genuinely I had to know what a sneako is for work) and read/watched a lot of opinion pieces on the manosphere.
Something I notice is, when men discuss the manosphere, they either centre the reason boys fall down that pipeline on some inner weakness or defectiveness of the boy, ie. "they're just autistic weirdos who want rules for women because they can't get their dick wet," or they centre the reason on women, "feminism had made women too woke, mean and impossible to socialise with."
What I noticed while working is that every single little Tate goblin I had to work with had conservative parents, and I have never once seen that aspect of all this discussed. Boys will reflect the social norms they are raised in within their household. The biggest preventative for manosphere bullshit I saw in the boys I worked with was a dad who isn't a fuckwit and a household that isn't LARPing the 1960s.
Blaming disabled people and women for shit men do instead of the men in the immediate vicinity with an active role in the situation seems to be a trend.
People who say "Society loves tomboys! Society has no problem with women embracing masculinity!" have never spoken to an (ex-)tomboy about what people started saying to them at puberty.
Mind elaborating on what is said to them at puberty?
Personally speaking, around puberty, I got a lot of comments from pretty much everyone around me that boil down to "You need to outgrow this tomboy thing and become more feminine." (Examples include: "I know you don't want to wear this dress and bra to [X event], but you're not little anymore, and it's not cute anymore for you to turn up your nose at this." Or, from adults, "no boy is going to want to be your boyfriend if you keep dressing like that.")
Those were the kinder comments. The meaner comments usually involved the word "dyke" or other similar pejoratives. Girls told me that they thought I was creeping on them (because they thought boyish = lesbian = creep) and made a lot of jokes at my expense. Boys thought of me as an imposter in their midst and spoke to me accordingly. It was a lonely time.
isn't it insane though how schizophrenic people are viewed as violent and dangerous by the majority of society when in reality schizophrenic people are nearly 14 times more likely to be on the receiving end of violence than to be the perpetrators...
schizophrenic person: makes a post trying to raise awareness about the disproportionate abuse and harmful stereotypes schizophrenic people face
yall: "yeah im not gonna reblog this they used the word ins*ne which is so problematic ://"
What the fuck happens that changes these stats to such a massive degree?
1) schizophrenia hardly ever causes people to be violent so schizophrenic people arenât more likely to be violent than anyone else
2) schizophrenic peopleâs autonomy is often taken away from them because of their schizophrenia. because the authorities and mental healthcare providers often automatically assume schizophrenic people to be violent, theyâre more likely to immediately react to schizophrenic people's symptoms with violence, without even knowing for sure said schizophrenic person was going to be violent. all of this causes schizophrenic people to be more likely of being victims of violence and abuse. schizophrenic people also have a harder time getting out of abusive households because of the risk of their autonomy being taken away. if a schizophrenic personâs relative or partner is abusive, often the schizophrenic person has no way out of the situation, both because our disconnect from reality can result in us being easier to manipulate, and because the system is built in a way that it takes away our autonomy because of our condition.
also schizophrenic people and psychotic people in general, please do a lot of research before picking a provider for your own sake, and if they try to treat your psychosis in a way that you think is harmful then donât hesitate to switch providers. your safety and wellbeing should be a priority over everything else.
can y'all please reblog this version instead
my mom called our lazy susan a sleazy susan by accident once and now I can't call it anything else

stop posting about your badly behaved dog i mean husband online if youâre going to get upset with the people telling you heâs a bite risk. âlook at what my husband packed me for my lunchâ and itâs the most insulting low effort assortment of snacks youâve ever seen accompanied with a note that says âi see you as subhumanâ. âugh guys stop telling me my husband doesnât respect me youâre not the ones in the relationship you donât know what heâs really likeâ yes i do and i think you should have him put down.
To say that masculinity is a flawed construct that inflicts serious psychological damage to many in its current state is true. To say that femininity in comparison is liberatory and pure and the "superior option" for most or all of the people on the planet is nuclear cope. Just weapons-grade ideological myopia. Please put the phone down and only return to the conversation when you can deepen your analysis beyond "this thing is evil because it makes me personally feel bad, and this thing is pure because it makes me personally feel good".
Ragebaiting my fat dog? More like master baiting my fat hog!!!!!!!!
âď¸Great Hog is displeased by this.
The kingly pig looks taken aback by this statement. "You claim to be 'baiting' our kind?.. A master of it, no less - after all the trust we hsve placed in you?"
- Your relationship with the Hog Society đ is now Unfavourable.
Christians love to claim that Hell is real, and not some recent invention, despite the fact that the most well known passage from the Bible does in fact show that neither Jesus himself, nor did the slaves who transcribed the book of John, believe in Hell.
This is oddly something I haven't seen even the most well known scholars write about. Even in Ehrman's Heaven and Hell, which is a book about how Jesus didn't believe in Hell (or Heaven), and how it was a recent invention - Dr. Ehrman doesn't even touch on John 3:16
Explanation for those who care:
So, Judaism back in Jesus' time, along with the early Christians, they didn't have Hell as we know of it today. Skipping over Sheol as that was for everyone regardless of whether they were evil or not - In their theology, if one died and weren't "right" with YHWH/God (God here refers to the Christian's deity), they would go to Gehenna.
Gehenna, is referred to as the "Lake of Fire" in the Apocalypse of John (Or Revelation as some call it). Here's a passage of it from Revelation 20:11-15
and a few other select verses that refer to the same concept, from the other Gospels
Now there's a few things I'd like to draw attention to:
The concept of an "eternal fire"
The complete and eternal destruction of both body and soul
The comparison to destruction of "root" and "branch" (types of wood)
Early Christians and certain Jewish people in that era (as Gehenna has evolved in what exactly it constitutes from then to now, and even between Jewish people of that era, who had a wide variety of views on things, but for simplicity sake, we're gonna focus on Apocalypticism Judaism (200 BCE - 100 CE), which Jesus was a part of) believed that Gehenna was like a literal fire. As in, if you throw wood into a fire, it's destroyed, permanently. You can't reform it, you can't bring it back. It's gone. It ceases to exist, literally. (Yes, it turns to ash and the matter is still there, but I digress, the wood is destroyed)
That's literally what Jesus and others who wrote the Bible thought of Gehenna. When you're tossed into the fire, you're destroyed permanently. You cease to exist. Maybe a few seconds of suffering, but after that? You're gone. Both body, and soul, are destroyed.
So, with that understanding of the theology of the time, let's take a look at John 3:16:
So, you have two options here:
Believe in Jesus, and have eternal life, and don't perish
Don't believe, and perish, without eternal life
Now, under modern Christian theology, you don't believe? You go to Hell and burn eternally.
But... this verse, it says that you only have eternal life, if you believe. It never says a good eternal life, or an eternal life without hell. It just says you only have eternal life if you believe in Jesus. That makes zero sense in modern understandings.
That's because under the author's understanding back then, as you now know, you don't burn eternally. You die and cease to exist if you don't believe in Jesus.
The Greek word used here for "perish" is áźĎĎÎťÎťĎ ÎźÎš (apoollumi), which refers to destroying an inanimate object, to kill, or destroy permanently and completely
Other examples of this word being used in the Greek manuscripts:
The king was furious! He sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city to the ground. Matt 22:7
saying, âWhat with us, do you have to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are â the Holy One of God!â Mark 1:24
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed Luke 5:37
Then Jesus said to them, âI ask you whether it is lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?â Luke 6:9
There is literally only way to interpret John 3:16, that the only other option if you don't believe, is complete and utter destruction, and not eternal suffering, from an immortal soul.
I'm currently writing a book on the Apocalypse of John actually, and explaining every single verse and what it ACTUALLY meant to Christians of the time, complete with academic citations. Doing research into what the Christian texts actually mean is a huge interest of mine and is a way for me to heal from trauma I had growing up.
It's incredibly interesting how much the religion evolved. Hell, the BIGGEST thing in Christian theology was only made "canon" because pastors and priests made it the fuck up to reconcile textual issues, and Christians of the time noticed that any evidence for it was lacking from the Latin translations, and got so angry at the publishers that they added text in to make it canon.
That concept? The trinity. This one verse is the ONLY verse in the NT that explicitly states that the trinity is a thing, and it was only added later on in later translations.
Incredibly interesting rabbit hole to dive into.
So the trinityâs essentially a headcanon that was eventually accepted by the collective fandom as canon. I see I see
Thatâs really interesting though, I never knew that. Good luck on that book!! ^^
Correct!
Ehrman did a short section of his one lecture on the KJV and its issues, on the Johanine Comma, if you're looking to hear more about it from a respected expert on the Bible
(Timestamped with where it starts, but I highly reccomend watching the whole thing, as it's a really cool lecture on why the KJV is absolutely dogshit)
Whoever would buy the rights to the manuscript

firm believer you can't be a ''good person''. too much niuance to life.
you can be good (adjective) but you cannot be good (identity)
if you think you are good (identity) you are more likely to cause harm as you don't consider yourself to be capable of it

okay, you know what? Running away shouldnât be a crime. It shouldnât be dangerous, either. Any kid should be able to leave their parents if they want, for any reason. No Iâm not kidding.
âBut Rue, where will these kids stay? Do you want them on the streets?â
of course not. In an ideal world, a kids would have multiple adults other than their parents they could look to for care, but I recognize that that will never be a reality for every single child. So: youth shelters, if they have nowhere else to go. There should be clean, warm shelters where anyone under 18 can stay for as long as they need, no questions asked. (And of course shelters that arenât just for kids, but weâre talking about youth rights right now)
âBut Rue,â I hear you say, âwhat if some moody teenager runs away after an argument?â
First of all, Iâd rather a thousand moody teenagers run away than one abused child be trapped. Second, so what if one does? A kid needs time away from their parents, so they leave. The vast majority of them will get some time to cool down and then go back home, and if they donât want to go back, period? Then nine times out of ten, they have a good reason. (Because yes, as hard as it is for you to believe, kids are humans who have common sense.)
âOkay, but what about the one time out of ten the kid doesnât have a good reason?â
Then the kid doesnât have a good reason. It doesnât change anything. If someone wants to break up with their partner because of something stupid, you wouldnât say they legally shouldnât be able to. (And if you would, then youâre just a bad person.) No one should have to be in a relationship, romantic or otherwise, that they donât want to be in.
