one day, i hope to be moved from your downloads folder into somewhere more deliberate
I think one of the gentlest things in the world is when a friend just gets your weird little brain. like you say half a sentence and they finish it. you reference something incredibly niche from seven years ago and they’re already nodding. they understand your strange vocabulary for emotions that don’t have real words yet. it’s being seen and known and still loved. maybe especially because you’re known. god. what a gift.

a few weeks ago i was thinking about how online there's always some discourse cycle or other where people go "everyone does/should/can do XYZ and if you don't you're a bad person / whatever other negative statement" and a disabled person says "i actually can't do that because i'm disabled" and everyone goes "look at this loser! bean soup theory proven again! nobody was thinking about disabled people this obviously isn't about you." which, aside from the fact that, well, yes, the fact that nobody was thinking about disabled people is part of the problem. the thing is is that disabled people also consider ourselves part of "everyone." on account of disabled people are also people, and thus fit into the category that means "every person." and this applies to a lot of other groups as well ofc. i've just been thinking about it recently like. is it really a "bean soup theory" moment or did somebody just (correctly) assume they are a part of "everybody"
an example i see every couple months on twitter is
some twitter user or other (as if having a new original thought and not rehashing old discourse): nobody NEEDS to use doordash and if you use it you're a capitalist who's exploiting the lower class disabled person: i rely on it some days because i'm in too much pain to make food twitter user 1: it literally is not that hard to make food everyone can warm up food in a microwave / throw together a pbj / eat cereal out of the box disabled person: i can't do that because of xyz twitter user 2: you must be rich then. everybody who uses doordash is rich disabled person: no i have very little money but i'm forced to spend what i have when i need to eat and cant make myself food twitter user 3: why dont you just have a friend/relative/etc come over and make you food / use [food program they think is far more accessible and universal than it actually is] / etc disabled person: if that was possible i would obviously be doing that but [any of a million reasons that isn't possible for them]
etc etc for eternity do you see what i mean. when they could have just said. "the vast majority of people dont need to use doordash and only use it bc they dont think about the people being exploited by doordash bc theyre so focused on the convenience of food delivery" or something like that
^This is an Example. this post is not about food delivery, its ethics, or its alternatives
a mess
those food cat memes always make me think of a kitten wearing a costume that his mommy made him
