how i became a window washer or the most special performance in my (short) life (+ face reveal!!)
i was invited into the "new route" ("новый маршрут") performance as a sound engineer. i heard about this performance from theater co-workers earlier and was so glad when i was invited. it made by independent group "artcouncil" ("худсовет") formed by actors from theater but theater itself don't finances it or smth.
in short, "новый маршрут" is a performance in the trolley, and it consist of real stories from city residents. actors constantly interacts with viewers and performance itself has many interesting moments and thoughts (videos from it will be there bc thx tumblr)
so
🚎sunday🚎
i arrived at the trolley depot where i met our command and saw our trolley. i didn't take any photos there so there's a photo of it from "худсовет" socials.
then we were preparing a trolley for the performance. others put numbers of seats (they have funny text btw like "today u don't have to give up your seat to grandma" or "u'll have to turn ur head a little"), repainted some parts of the trolley, prepared props, since i... yeah, i washed the windows :D. Sasha asked someone to wash it and i decided to make it bc like it's funny to tell about how u washed the windows idk <(￣︶￣)>.
("finally u don't have to look at monitors with ads")
after that we made a rehearsal, but it was short, not complete and kinda random. but it's absolutely better than nothing (as from my experience, performances without rehearsal (even if u had been watching it earlier) is bad, so bad idea).
in the end i discussed some technical moments (like how exactly i will turn on light and sound at the beginning), checked the difference between sound at the center of the trolley and my spot (it was for the better mixing bc usually lower frequencies are heard louder if u sit behind the speaker (btw there was no big difference in that case)) and then i was drove to my home :3
🚎monday🚎
the performance begins at the stop near one of the parks and i approached it at about 7:20 pm (it begins at 8:00 pm), waited a lil bit and then the trolley arrived. i came first, turned on the multicore (thing that connects the speakers and the laptop) and garland on the sign (ill show it later), took my laptop, connected it, then speakers, while passengers slowly came in as well. and then... performance itself begun.
lil summary with the most interesting stories and moments:
- intro with asking viewers to prepare to interact and answer questions, story about Saransk's time capsule and reading of lil letters from previous viewers (video 1)
- then two actors stop the trolley and tell the story about football culture (world cup 2018 was in Saransk) (video 2)
- story about "mc radio" - an old radio station that doesn't exist anymore. actors "take a call" to this radio and one of the viewers may order some music (and i have to find it quickly and turn it on. bc of internet issues there was a complicated scheme with connection phone to the laptop and yeah)
- then the trolley stops and viewers go to the underpass (i should stay in the trolley but this time i went with them). there's a street guitarist (an actor, ofc), who sings and then tells the story about a man who has been here recently and asked him to sing a touchful song. then he performs the "Rustem" song by Valentin Strykalo. i know one of the viewers took a video how i sang along (bc i was almost the only one) but i can't find it :c. after that viewers exit the underpass from the other side and trolley with music meets them (that's why i have to be in the trolley, but this time one of the actors made my job, hehe).
- theeen there's my fav story. it's about a ride for the school and enjoying Eminem (more in the video). (video 3)

- a story about sister and brother who walked through the bridge in the winter, noticed a sagging garland and stole some bulbs from it 😇😇😇
- a story about police officers who noticed how two friends were drinking some beer in the alley, but just said to them like "a beautiful city was made for ya, why do ya do this?" and this situation became so important in their lives.
- lil stop and a story about enjoying cars after "initial d" anime (video 4)
- a story about an actor's grandpa who worked as a train machinist and almost got into an accident bc of alcohol. after this story this actor proposes to viewers to drink some water (but this water is in a bottle of vodka) (lil video 5 without story itself)
- a story about the winter trolley and drawing on the fogged up windows by finger after which actors give viewers a marker so they may write some things on the windows :3
- a story about an actress' brother (the same bro from the story about garland) who suddenly moved into St. Petersburg, but didn't really want to do it and thought about how many things he didn't have time to do
- a discoteca!! (just imagine seeing a trolley with loud music and bright multicolored lights in the cabin)
- a story about a photographer who fell in love with a girl in school, but didn't confess to her, then lost her and find again when became an old man (i cried after this story, there's also a pause with atmosphere song and riding w/o light)
in the end we came to the same stop as in the beginning at ~11:30 pm, trolley left (that scared me sm btw bc i left my laptop there) and actors and i bowed ourselves for the viewers :33
then viewers began to slowly disperse, the trolley came back, we took our things, washed the windows and i was driven to my home again :DD
🚎tuesday🚎
we performed again but there were some different actors (u may notice it on some videos) and this time i didn't go to the underpass. after the performance we cleaned the trolley (guess what exactly i did) and took all of the props (like the sign with garland!!) from it.
that's me!!
i incredibly love our command, and i hope i would participate in more of its projects🥺🥺. any official performance can't convey this cozy chamber atmosphere.

i had an accident for the first time in my life 🤩🤩🤩 (everything's fine, no one was injured, only some cars had damage)
the car in front of us braked, which caused us to brake sharply as well, and as a result, our car and two others behind us crashed into each other. we had the least amount of damage. one car's hood was badly dented, and the other's bumper as well. we sat there for over an hour waiting for the traffic police. in the end my bf's some relative (idk who is she, sorry) took us where we needed to go, and his dad (who was driving) stayed there.
