The imagined scenes were still dominant in Jongin’s mind; the way the waves crashed over him and left him with no way out, no oxygen, no chance to breathe or survive. It took a few more seconds of blinking through the darkness for Jongin to realise he was clutching at his own throat, making sure he could breathe and that there was nothing preventing him from doing so. Frantically patting around on his desk for his wand, he took it into his hand to cast the lumos charm, yet the wooden stick slipped from his grasp and onto the floor, his heart still pounding in his chest and leaving him with no form of comfort.
Attention immediately focused on the source of the noise, his pupils still blown wide in the darkness, hands left to clutch at the sheets of his bed. “Who are you?” he quips, evidence of a waver in his voice. “Am I still dreaming?” The male then glanced down to around where he’d dropped his wand, the shadows of the night stealing away his vision’s usual level of capability. Reluctant to leave his bed, he leaned over the edge to feel around for it, still fraught from the rather traumatising dream, barely able to focus on the girl by his door.
Naeun winced at the blast of light which emitted from the boy's wand. Snores muffled under blankets, soft breaths, and the rare creaking of wood seemed especially hushed in the morning hours. She took a breath as she started towards Jongin; for a moment, the light of the wand seemed harsh against the angles and edges of features. The discordant slap of the wand as it fell onto the dormitory floor caused her to jump but also urged her forward. "It's me. Naeun. It was just a dream. You're not dreaming anymore."
She, with her eyes more accustomed to the darkness of the room, walked toward Jongin; she noted the whites of his knuckles as he clutched his sheets. "Jongin, everything's okay now. You're awake," she said softly. She knelt down on the floor in front of him, picking up his wand and holding it up to him with hands that shook ever so slightly, as she looked for anything in his expressions that could help her read him. "Are you okay with telling me what happened in the dream?"
