“Stolen” Chapter 1 Part 1
Chapter 1
Oliva was now standing in the hospital corridor outside her best friend's room. Her brain was spinning with thoughts, though she could not process any of them. The noise of rushing beds carrying all kinds of injured people, beeping machines, and the sound of ambulances rushing inside all imprinted an idea into her head. She would be there one day. She was there because she had been wanting to see if her best friend was feeling alright. Creeeeek. The door opened. Jesse’s mom walked through the door. “ It’s time now.” she told Oliva.
“ Is she alright?” Olivia asked. She gave no reply. Oliva walked in the door. Her brain instantly wobbled and collapsed. Olivia had never imagined that any one could actually have that happen to them, let alone her best best friend since third grade. Jess was lying in a hospital bed, her hand still in the air but curled and moving slightly. “She has been like this since the day she was brought in.” the doctor told her.
“Really? When she got …… it happened she was just pointing up and not moving at all. How did she get to this stage?” said Olivia half crying and moaning in sadness.
“ Well it all started when the lead doctor did acupuncture. She …” She had stopped talking for Olivia was now crying so hard a few people had come into the room to check what had happened.
“Continue.” Olivia said. She had finally got herself together and had stopped weeping all over the floor.
“She had started move after the first needle.” the doctor continued. Then it hit Olivia. She stood up and grabbed a pencil and paper. With some resistance she stuck the pencil into Jess’s hand and held the paper under it. At first it seemed just like scribbles. There was no meaning to the weird lines on the page. Then Olivia grabbed a clipboard hanging on the wall. She turned the paper over, clipped it to the clipboard, and once again held it under Jess’s hand. Jess scribbled for a moment and then suddenly stopped. She set the pencil on the paper and took her hand down from it, laying her once curled now straight hand beside her. Olivia then picked up the paper. The doctor suddenly gasped behind, for it had spelled something. It read Empir Sttate Bilden.
“It says Empire State Building. It says Empire State Building! I wonder what has to do with the Empire State Building?” said Olivia.
