hi there! I do in fact have a break for the summer, and I’m already getting bored lol. At least I have plenty of time to read (both my ever growing tbr and fanfic)! Are you on break/ what are you up to?

ok, it’s a long story lol. One of my family members liked it LONG before I got into it, they were reading the books as they came out. About 3ish years ago, I was in the car with them and they put the audiobook for the raven boys on, and they said that I’d like it. Because I’m me I didn’t really give it much of a chance, mostly to be contrary, but also because the first chapter did make it kinda sound like a Romance Book, which has never really been my jam. Flash forward 2 years and it’s May of last year, I’m bored and looking for a new book series to devour in a week (as I’d only just started doing a lot at the time), and this family member shoves the raven boys at me again! I then proceeded to get to the ninos not-a-prostitute fight and fall in love with the book after that (and the parking lot scene with Adam). I read the raven cycle in 6 days. I read the dreamer trilogy in 2 weeks. I’ve reread trc probably 3-4 times now tehe.

Chapter 40 is horrible, but chapter 39 broke me even more. They were so close. They had finally done everything they needed to, everyone was alive and happy against all the odds and then they weren’t.

i do really like how six of crows and crooked kingdom both started with a chapter from the pov of an outsider. It really helped show the difference between the crows and some of the other people in the world they lived in, and just generally helped with world building. The Joost chapter especially set the conflict up really well, and the Retvenko chapter also was wonderful foreshadowing of the kind of magic that we saw in ck. I will admit to being one of the people who took like 3 days to actually read through the Joost intro, but despite being a kind of weird start I still love what it did for the world building. (Edited because I made a stupid mistake)
