does anyone else think its weird that the dr team keep putting in unused dialogue for Noelle using and equipping items? like even in chapter 5, they're taking the time to put in all this flavor text that you can't actually see while playing the game without save file editing or whatever

I was watching a video of someone starting chapter 2 and seeing the scene with Toriel scolding Kris for eating the pie again made me realize that Kris goes out of their way to eat stuff a lot of the times when they are free of the players control. First the pie obviously, then in chapter 4 they go make themselves chocolate milk in the Holiday house, and what made it a pattern for me is that in chapter 5 they will eat the toast Toriel asks them to make if you choose to not give it to her or Asgore before getting to the school. Like, they use the brief moment of time we're not in control during the screen transition to scarf down the toast in their inventory. I genuinely don't think Kris can eat or drink when we're controlling them if we don't explicitly tell them to.
Considering the periods of time the chapters take place over, it's really damn sad actually. Kris didn't get to eat anything the entire day chapter 1 took place over, of course they went and ate an entire pie in the time they had to themselves before they were possessed again for another full day.

I've been going a little insane plotting out how the genderqueer elements of deltarune tie into all the story's main themes and kind of just. everything? it has genuinely convinced me that this story is fundamentally about being a queer teen growing up in a small community

I’m cooking up a pretty big analysis on genderqueerness in deltarune, and I thought it would be fun to share my interpretations of a few important narrative devices cause idk if they'll make it into the final thing
Freedom - specifically, the freedom to choose your own path in life, to be who you wish to be, and freedom from what constricts you and keeps you from doing so. very important since it's relevant to literally every relevant character, especially the secret bosses.
Determination - in undertale, it’s the power to make your will reality, as well as a physical substance that can prevent someone from dying. in deltarune, I think this is more along the lines of the power to break away from a predetermined role. I’m not sure if it would necessarily be the power to break away from fate itself, as Flowery is still defeated by the fun gang and the knight at the end of chapter 5, but he was able to be a person who made an impact on those around him with what little time he had, despite Ralsei telling him that his purpose was to be just a flower.
Power - I see this as being the other side of the coin from determination, they’re very similar, but power is sort of the dark underside of determination. power seems to be an alternative way of changing your predetermined role, as well as perhaps being able to change fate (depending on how chapter 7 side B goes), but it forces that change in a way that hurts those using it and isolates them rather than lifting them up and allowing them to do the same for others. through power, you don’t find yourself, you break yourself.

honestly I think you're right though! all 4 of our main characters have some gender fuckery going on and I'm so serious about it. like it's crazy how many connections you can make between the gender of it all and the main themes of the story if you start really looking into everything

After sleeping on it, I've decided that I definitely need to make a video on how transgender that whole chapter was. There's so many little connections and bits of symbolism throughout it, and it goes so well with the themes and story beats of this chapter.
ok so I'm finishing my chapter 4 weird route save so I can get into the chapter 5 weird route stuff, and I'm also getting all the shadow crystals so I'm fighting the water cooler princess atm and um
I gotta refresh myself on the importance of the eggs and the man behind the tree stuff but there might be a very interesting connection here. I think this could actually be relevant to the focus on gender in chapter 5, since you get the egg in chapter 3 from man country and that stuff sets some precedent for gender commentary there
