Rattail is a very complicated, messed up individual. He’s like a stray cat who claws and bites and purrs when you come in the room but move away when you try to pet it. He, like Repo, is longing for belonging!! But he doesn’t trust ANYONE EXCEPT REPO. It’s very hard. He’s always got his guard up. Seeing Repo get so vulnerable with SR makes him react with revulsion! Not because he’s grossed out but like… That’s a RICK. That’s a RICK and Repo is supposed to be HIS PARTNER. It’s a lot of messed up, complicated feelings that are piled on top of so much trauma already. He’s happy for his friend, but he’s also so jealous of losing him–Even though Repo went through all the trouble to revive Rattail. It’s such a mess, dawg. They would do anything for each other.
Immortality is a curse, but it’s bearable if it’s with you.
Pyre pointed out that because of this dynamic, it’s almost like the Morty has become the Rick, and vice versa and I pointed like YEAH EXACTLY!!! EXCEPT– they would both vehemently protect the other. BEST BUDDIES FOREVER, LITERALLY.
