I am frustrated.

I am not ok with him still being out there, still having access to those he can abuse. He hasn’t paid for his behaviour and I don’t know if he ever will. Why should victims be made because someone needed to learn how to properly treat someone? I don’t think he will change. You can’t use someone as a lesson and act like you’ll change. He thinks people moved on, that no one is praying for his downfall, that no one is planning to spread what he did.

If we protect abusers, there will only be more victims. Holding them accountable and using reform can stop them from traumatising more.

If you know someone who has questionable behaviour, you need to hold them accountable before it’s too late- there’s so many signs, whether big or small, and too many choose to look past it.

I’ve been around those types of guys who normalise abusive behaviours cause it’s a “joke”, until that friend abuses his girlfriend or even a child, and the other friends look past it.

It’s “all men” because those who don’t hold others accountable just assist those men in abuse. Be the person who stops the cycle, that says something and that protects victims. Don’t take away the spotlight from victims just cause of your ego.

People expect monsters.

They want child abusers to be easily identifiable monsters, because the alternative is terrifying.

The alternative, and the reality, is that child abusers look just like everyone else. You can't look at them and know that they are dangerous. They don't have some identifiable devious look in their eyes. They don't all look like creeps.

They are just people. They are parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, babysitters, family friends, teachers, pastors, priests.

They are people you trust. They are often warm and charming and "good with kids".

If you keep looking for monsters, you're going to keep walking right past them, and that's what they are relying on.
