Who ordered the corporate shill bot? I’ve featured ol’ Ratchet before, but this time you can see him move! Robots was Blue Sky’s second film (after Ice Age), and it’s from that transitionary era of CG animated movies, where all the animators were still coming from 2D backgrounds, so the character animation was really snappy and pose-driven. An all-metal character presents some acting challenges, but there are also advantages - like really sharp lines of action. Look at the third gif where he leans on the table. Notice how as he shifts his weight the different pieces of his suit kind of snap together to form strong contours? If you’re struggling with figure drawing, “limited” characters like this can help you get outside your headspace.
