does Kippa have a mentor? Whats her and Rhenn's baby's relationship with the (surviving) mentors in their au?
Kippa did have a mentor from her college, Iatrics, named Rhonann, but he unfortunately was killed during the reactor explosion. She still has a bunch of his old textbooks he wrote before he started teaching, and references them when she's feeling a little lost. Not that she isn't a talented doctor in her own right, but she sometimes doubts herself.
None of the order mentors, though, survived Claw Island, all of them dying with the potential commanders (and the one who should have become commander, Tebb).
As far as the members of Destiny's Edge, it varies from person to person. Caithe was, strangely, the first one who... maybe didn't warm up to Rhenn but was more open to hearing him out. She had been through a lot herself, and recognized that Rhenn was at least trying. She was also drawn to Kippa for reasons she wouldn't understand until later (Kippa's connection as Aurene's oracle).
Logan took to Rhenn initially to be able to keep an eye on him, and then just kind of was like. "Oh this guy literally has NO idea what's going on here." And started teaching him how to use his tactical skill more efficiently. He also became a little protective of Kippa, though it clearly frustrated her in the "I'm a grown woman I can handle myself" kind of way.
Eir initially didn't seem like she cared much for him, but it was pretty clear she was looking out for him. Something about her reminded him of someone he could barely remember, so her death later hit him harder than he expected. She also seemed to understand Kippa's melancholy more than some of the others, with the exception of maybe Zojja.
Then Rytlock. He was the second longest to warm up to Rhenn, and VERY clearly didn't trust him. There's enough Inquest in charr territory that he just thought of him as an absolute pain in the ass. He was protective of Kippa too, though in the way a soldier cares for their healers more than anything, but it was watching him with Rox that got Rytlock to ease up.
Last... Zojja. Oh my god. She hated him. SHE HATED HIM SO MUCH. From the jump she didn't trust him, and only let him help in Lion's Arch after Claw Island because she figured if he died, it was no skin off her ears. But he survived. And kept going. She was not happy about this. It wasn't until Heart of Thorns, when he went out of his way to save her in the jungle and make sure to take her to Kippa for care, that her opinion turned more positive. As she and Leyya recovered in Kippa's old classmate's private clinic, she decided to do everything she could to help him. (Her opinion on Kippa was pretty low at first. She saw her as mousy and timid. She did learn later the truth of her behavior and honestly warmed up to her much sooner.)
