Gorgeous. Also photographic proof that the moon is not, in fact, larger near the horizon. That is merely an illusion.

What do they call that illusion? “The Moon Illusion” of course. ASAPScience did a really nice video about it.

Not only that, but see how the moon is red near the horizon? That’s because of the same science that makes the sunsets red and orange! And I did a video about that: “Why is the Sky Any Color At All?”

I am long overdue for posting photosets of our collection - I know, I’m sorry.  The past few months have been swallowed up in graduate school, script-writing, research, and filming.  Every day this week I’ve been awoken with a phone call from a museum or reporter or publicist, and we are currently working on some really exciting things that involve Michael and me and planes and museums.  Before I go have all of the fun, though, I’ve just got to make it through the rest of this semester; my head is swimming with museum administration practices and policies, qualifications for tax-exemptions of nonprofits, and pondering repatriation cases. Rest assured photos will be returning when I have a moment to catch my breath.
