“We could have crossed the sea with our own ships, or without getting captured by pirates!” Her exclamation comes in the form of a whisper, though she’s more than annoyed about this turn of events. She’s not quite expecting the quick release, given that she hasn’t got the same experience with escaping prisons or bindings as Florian has, though she’s got confidence in him - she’s certain he wouldn’t put her in deliberate danger. Now that the pirates are aware of their escape, it’s certainly got to be up to their charisma to get them out of this. “You really are quite mad.”
“PIRATES ARE THE best sailors around,” Florian insisted. “I’ve never met a brigand who wasn’t more attuned to the sea than a navy man or a fisherman. I think the sea’s amused by them.” Certain he’d said everything he needed to in order to calm Snow, Florian turned his full attention to the crew. “As I was saying: cards? You’ve certainly had a long day, and you did such a good job capturing us; I’d love to congratulate you all by losing at a hand or two of cards.” He leaned a fraction closer conspiratorially. “Mind the lady: she’s a shark at any card table.”
The crew murmured, some having already drawn their weapons, when the captain appeared from his quarters, having been called to the commotion on the deck.
“Captain!” Florian exclaimed. “Perhaps you’ll be the one to join me in a hand of cards? I was just telling your men how impressed I was with their hard work.” He grinned winningly, one hand still on Snow’s, squeezing gently and reassuringly. “This wasn’t exactly our intended voyage, but we are looking to cross the sea; I’m sure we can come to an agreement.” Gently, Florian pulled on Snow’s hand, ever so slightly, hoping she would mind the cue to step next to him and convince the captain.
