[Alistair] You asked who I thought you were. [Arthur] That... Was rhetorical- [Alistair] Well, I think you're a stranger. My wee brother isn't a father. He's not sensible or polite, and he doesn't ask before he takes. He doesn't care for how his actions might affect others. My wee brother ran away from home years ago and has been a bloody liability to the family ever since.

I remembered an ask, I of course can't find it now that I need it, that asked if, in the punk dad au, whether Arthur had a good relationship with his brothers. And I remembered that I said he doesn't, but didn't otherwise elaborate.

But I think the relationship to his brothers are complicated. Because in the end, they do end up helping him find a flat and a job and all, right when Arthur's gotten Alfred and is cleaning up his act a bit. I do think that the Arthur his brothers knew before Alfred (and Matthew) arrived, was someone who lived life more carelessly and more unapologetically, to a point where he was living out of spite more than anything else. And the mother in question wasn't a particularly good influence either, so when Arthur does eventually just rip off the band aid and ask Cieran and Alistair for help, both brothers are skeptical, to put it mildly. And Alistair, the one who agrees to actually meet with him, doesn't recognize the Arthur that's asking him for help; Because in practically every way, he's changed. This Arthur is someone who's well-considered, sensible and trying to be responsible, and it beckons the question whether he always possessed the ability for sensibility, but simply chose not to be.
