Kill Me: I’ll write a drabble about my character killing yours. [Nadia]
She was one of very few individuals Ranya would rather avoid running in to, and yet as fate would have it she found her path crossed by the woman far too often. This time had been no exception as the young noble stared across the sand with a deep frown marring her brow. Hatred coiled like a writhing snake in her stomach, roaring in discontent each time Nadia opened her mouth to praise the scourge of Vabbi himself.
Like acid it spilled from Ranya’s own lips, her words a scathing fury each time she felt the burning heat of her rage flare in immediate response to the Vabbian’s worship.
“How can you be so BLIND? How can you close your eyes to the many who have fled from his reign of terror. How do you not see all that he has ruined?!”
Ranya shouted out to the back of the retreating woman, voice shaking with the intensity of her fury. “Get back here!” she demanded with the unexpected urge to become physical, to inflict upon the woman the pain she felt within. It was her pride that drove her motives when her feet kicked up the sand in a flurry of speed to close the created distance. It was the raging fire she had seen consume her own father in fits of anger in the past. It was dedication to her people, despair to see Joko destroyed so the glory of Elona could be restored.
But most of all it was pain, a suffering caused by impotence when faced with the stalwart and unwavering reslove of Nadia’s faith. It was not possible for Ranya to feel pity for the woman who stood so proud, who carried herself without remorse even when presented the truth about her beloved ruler.
There was no place for her in the future she dreamt about.
Flames blossomed in Ranya’s hands, roaring to life as her anger made manifest. “You do not walk away.” Her voice carried with steely determination as soft brown eyes now narrowed in the rush of reckless action. Months upon months she had honed her skills for the event of facing forged, perhaps branded. But most of all Ranya had prepared to stand in opposition of the awakened.
Today however was the first time her skill was used against a living and breathing human, pouring forth like a firestorm. It was the first time Ranya took action against someone under the implication of siding with the creature that had been the cause of so much strife. The one that stood between her family and home.
“What have I done, papa?” Tears ran down Ranya’s shocked features when she finally stood before the towering shadow of her father. Hands trembling now that the adrenaline of her rage had died down, leaving the youth to contemplate on the murder. It wrenched at her resolve that she had done the right thing, staring up in search of Lord Nadir’s approval, or comfort.
And as Ranya waited, all she could see was the writhing form of Nadia engulfed in searing flames as she burned to ash. All she could hear was the cry of agony that she had inflicted, the dying wail of a woman who’s only crime had been to be born on the right lands, under the wrong rule.
