In the UK the 1957 Wolfenden Report recommended that 'homosexual behaviour between consenting adults in private should be no longer a criminal offence'. And the phrase "consenting adults" became a euphemism for gay men once the recommendations of the report were put into action and male homosexual acts were decriminalized. (It took a decade and happened in 1967.)

Yes, it’s still possible to get posts to show up, but in the case of the search function, it’s only if they have no links - not even links to other Tumblr posts. For people like me who include links to other chapters in my fic so readers can get caught up on chapters they might miss, this is a huge problem. I basically have no choice but to include those links, or else I would make things massively inconvenient for my readers.

So why am I telling everyone this? Because this means reblogs are becoming more and more important to creators. With posts so difficult to find in searches and tags, reblogs are one of the few other ways for people to find new artists or writers.

You’re under no obligation to reblog my stuff, of course, but I want to put it out there why reblogs are so important to those of us who write/draw/create content.

It’s a safe space, not just for readers, but writers to express their inner musings or turmoil. You don’t need to worry about mentally scarring your characters or the inevitable intensive thearapy that would be required afterwards because they are just words. As much as writers may gush about their characters as if they were their children, they are nothing more than scribbles on a piece of paper. They aren’t actual children. For all intents and purposes, they are paper puppets. Characters aren’t meant to be babied. That’s disrespectful to both the story and the characters if the story and characterization leads them towards an unhealthy relationship.

I am also thoroughly uninterested on a personal level in romantic relationships so I find these stories fascinating because it gives me a window into the perspective of another person and their thoughts on a potential route for the characters faced with the situation they were presented. I enjoy reading such things as it helps my (albeit limited) understanding of the people around me. Well written (realistic) depictions of viciously unhealthy relationships are like having your own labrutory and you follow the data of a single case.

If anything, the fact OP can enjoy that content while understanding keys to a healthy relationship and that it’s nothing more than a piece of fiction meant to entertain, then I think it shows they are very aware of themselves and their surroundings. It displays they have a fantastic understanding of boundaries and know where their’s are.
