Natural Cures for PMS?
I didn't mean my first post to be about PMS but it is. I'm starting to get my cramps and I get the worst, longest, most disgusting period ever. I already took tylenol three but I can still feel the pain. I decided to stop abusing medication about a month ago - this means ALL medication. I used to over-take it all to escape depression, etc. This is he first time in my life I've actually stopped (and I'm nearly 40). Back to the subject. Here's some info I found on the net: 1. The root causes of PMS are high estrogen-to-progesterone ratio, abnormal neurotransmitter response, disrupted sodium metabolism caused by stress, carbohydrate metabolism, and nutritional deficiencies. 2. There isn't conclusive evidence that herbal treatments for PMS work. 3. PMS symptoms can start to occur 7 - 14 days before your period starts... YIKES. 5% of women experience PMS symptoms so badly they mess up the rest of their month (hand up). 4. The official term for this issue is dysmenorrhea... sounds like a really, really bad form of diarreah. 5. Mentrual cramps are caused by contractions in the uterus. If the uterus contracts too strongly, it can press against nearby blood vessels, cutting off the supply of oxygen to the muscle tissue of the uterus. Pain results when part of a muscle briefly loses its supply of oxygen. 6. Exercising and stretching helps.
