It wouldn't be long until she clawed her way back to it. Until her pins yearned to soak in their blood.
"She would finally bow. She would finally break. She would come to understand that even gods can buckle and yield in the Void's grasp. She will understand her hope of escape was gone as soon as the Abyss claimed her body and soul."
But time after time, one banishment after the other into the endless Void, she still crawled back like an unwieldy revenant hellbent for revenge.
Feral as she was, only two words could describe her tenacious insanity best: 'Deranged Obsession.'
At first, she must have only seen it as a stepping tool to return to the world's of bug and dream. But they had drawn her ire far too many times to not now be a part of its nonsensical consequence.
She would come as she had hundreds of times before: with her incessant shrieking and curses. With sublime knives and violence. And like those hundreds of thousands of times before, The Radiance would cast her back down. To make her understand that there was truly no point to fight any longer.
The reality of it once brought satisfaction to The Radiance. But as her purity once again split the darkness in twain, only one question remained as her strange body collided with theirs: "Why?"
Fleeing was never an option with her; their intoxicating clash began as it always had: without warning, their two blades colliding, their calm demeanor a stark contrast to her seething hatred.
The screech of metal on metal was nothing but a distant sound to The Radiance, who refused taking its eyes off the bloodthirsty deity. One mistake was all she needed, and even if she had failed to claim it before, the loathing in her empty eyes made sure to show that she yearned for it nonetheless.
She would fail again.
Her sharp gasp and infuriated growl were her classic telltale signs she knew she had. Their duel ended with her overpowered in an instant, and she was blown away by a bat of their majestic wings.
Her fists curled until she frayed her own silk. Her body shook with impertinence, her shoulders quivering with loathing. Her impatience would have her lunge across that infinite distance between them, they were sure of it. Her unpredictable nature had become predictable. Once a threat, now merely a worrisome bother. Their guard remained raised. And they held. And they held. And held. And... nothing ever happened.
Their array of magical knives moved to intercept nothing. The Radiance kept them wary, ready to deflect, for what felt like hours in those brief moments.
Something... was wrong. This new usuperer stood her ground, even if she kept her horrendous intentions as clear as day. This... never happened before.
"Why?" The Radiance called out, their voice a bold, baritone inflection of her own coniving, feminine softness.
Her head twitched, tilting like a predator narrowed in on their prey. "Why..?" Her drawl, though alluring, portrayed nothing but repressed violence.
"Why do you insist on this uselessness so, woman? What grand achievement do you seek here, in this forsaken hell of our own making? Are those naught but a means to distract from our encroaching fates? Tell me: why?"
She remained still and became silent. For the first time since they had met, their existence had ceased to become a personal insult to hers. It HATED THAT.
With every instinct warning it to remain on guard, The Radiance felt its heart pounding. "You must know what has become of us; what WILL become of us. Why is it that you can't seem to accept this like everyone of us who has?!"
She froze. Her hands went limp. In fact, everything The Radiance had come to know about her, ranging from her heaving chest that never seemed able to obtain a full breath, to her arrogant aura, disappeared.
The Radiance was baffled. Its multitude of defending swords dropped with a clatter.
And then she spoke. "I... need you."
"What-?!"
The elastic snap of ropes wrapped around limbs and neck. Their voice went mute with a sickening gag. Oh no.
Her ethereal transportation on that bizarre ball she called wings had her practically teleporting. Only a last ditch burst of holy light it kept reserved blinded the white demon enough her gilded gold claws missed. Instead of splitting it in half, just the right side of their face ended with deep gouged scars. It yearned to scream agony, but their wretched bondage only grew tighter.
She did not hesitate lunging, even as her ghastly shriek of pain made it know her own eyes burned. Thankfully, her depleted silk bondage could not count for their near infinite measure of wings. Instead of her claws ripping and tearing their throat out, she settled for digging her painful nails into the firm feather that blocked her way.
For the first time since they met, they finally writhed together, face to face. And The Radiance was astonished by what it saw. Up close, what appeared black and blank before was merely a veil. And behind it hid a hideously gorgeous face whose features were nothing but maddening. An unnatural, eldritch appearance that yearned only for its suffering and death.
They couldn't get enough of it.
She leaned in, even as the Radiance kept her gnawing and clawing at arms length. And her grotesque grinding of teeth was a soothing melody to their heart.
"I need you to DIE. I need your DEATH. I NEED you to FALL and BOW and give me EVERYTHING you have to make THINGS RIGHT..! Those VILE DAUGHTERS of mine CAN NOT be allowed to GO UNPUNISHED!"
The Radiance's wings shook from pain and a feeling it could not describe. She leaned in with equal struggle, digging deeper, splitting open more of its golden wounds. "Don't you understand me?! Don't you see the same means of escape IN ME?! Don't you desire the SAME OF ME? Or have you always been this... bloody... PATHETIC?!"
The Radiance's eyes flared with insulted rage. "How... DARE...?!"
Her vile, gut-churning growl became a provoking taunt. As foul and sickly as the singular claw that pricked blood as it tore into the side of their face, her mouth came beside its head, whispering, "Don't you yearn for REVENGE, too... weakling..?"
"Enough!"
"GYAAAAA!"
Blinding, searing energy blew her away. The Radiance, already spent from losing more of its power it barely held onto in the infinite blackness, was a panting mess. Grand Mother Silk rolled and fell. This realm had no semblance of detail or depth perception, where those confined to the ground may step off to their further doom without warning.
With her grounded suddenly, there was no other chance for an exchange of words as, with her signature piercing cry, she disappeared from sight. Like she had the numerous times before.
The Radiance let go. The Void, caring for once, suspended its body in its tendrils, allowing for a moment of respite.
She'd be back. The Radiance knew that for sure. With her first successful taste of conquest, she'd become insatiable until she saw it as a corpse.
Her claws burned. They burned. Yet, after years of solitude and emptiness, The Radiance surprised itself.
One wing came up to touch its scars... and they smiled. And another certain warmth spreading throughout the rest of its face as it smiled most devilishly.
She'd be back.
It couldn't wait until she was so they could remind her of her place.
i'm not done i'm at it again I WAS NOT READY ALR?!?
silksong neighbors au master post
Neighbors AUΒ is a modern settingΒ alternative universe, where Hornet, Hollow and Ghost move into a house next to Lace's,Β and the new neighbors become Lace's new problem and a source of conflicting thoughts and feelings, even after she gets along with them.
The characters are still bugs, but there's no silk magic, no haunting, no plague. I did not design this au with any crazy plot to it, it's just characters living their awesome daily lives. This auΒ is mostly focused around lacenet and generally it's a very fluff, comfort and slowburn au.Β
The ship dynamicΒ I envision for them is kind of fell first Hornet (not really romantically at that point?) and fell harder Lace (quite romantically). Their relationship would be very slow burn, it would take them literally years to figure it out... idk if I envision them ever becoming "official", I kind of like this awkward 'we're something that's hard to describe as friends anymore' dynamic in general. they would literally be kissing and after that think that it's probably normal to kiss a friend that is a girl because their friendship is just that based. my stupids <3
A little disclaimer: both Lace and Hornet might look somewhat out of character, but that's mostly due to them not being eternal demigods with a baggage of trauma on their shoulders. They both are Normal Girls in their early twenties.
comics/posts sorted in chronological order:
year 1, summer: 1 - first meeting (+ misc doodles and general info for characters) 2 - they learn each other's names yaay 3 - lost puppies!! (+ hornet brings home a cat, probably autumn of year 2 though)
year 1, autumn: 1 - caught in the rain
year 1, winter:
year 1, spring:
year 2, summer: 1 - hornet sneaks into lace's room 2 - lace gay panic
year 2, autumn: 1 - sneaky lacenet kiss comic 2 - gms is literally homophobic
misc (random doodles and shitpost, out of timeline, out of canon; not listed chronologically): 1 - lacenet doodles (+siblings talk about them) 2 - hornet's family (not canon. for now) 3 - hello neighbor
I will constantly edit this post and move comics around if I decide so
