The Most Romantic Thing I Can Imagine Is Making You Tea
We spend so much time talking about love through the lens of grand gestures.
But the older I get, the more I realize that the kind of love I want probably wouldnāt make for a very exciting movie.
It would look more like making someone a cup of tea.
I recently came across the song Tea, and it reminded me that the deepest forms of intimacy are often the quietest. The song isnāt really about tea at all. Itās about creating a small moment where someone feels safe enough to let their shoulders drop.
That idea stayed with me.
I caught myself thinking that maybe the most romantic fantasy I have isnāt anything extravagant. Itās the opportunity to care for someone in the moments nobody else sees.
Not because I can fix their problems.
Not because I have all the answers.
Just because everyone deserves a place where they donāt have to carry the weight of the world for a few minutes.
Thereās something beautiful about saying, āSit down. Iāll make the tea.ā
Itās an act of service, but itās also an act of trust.
Maybe thatās why it feels symbolic.
Love isnāt always loud. Sometimes itās measured in quiet routines that tell another person, āYou donāt have to be strong right now.ā
I think we underestimate those moments.
We celebrate the proposals, the anniversaries, and the vacations, but rarely the Tuesday evenings when someone notices youāre exhausted before you say a word.
Maybe intimacy isnāt built through extraordinary moments.
Maybe itās built one ordinary act of kindness at a time.
Maybe love looks less like fireworksā¦
