(this is actually a reference to my best friends OCS also :D)
After an unexpected Kaiju attack, in which a meteor containing a two-headed kaiju had arrived through the portal not on schedule according to Alex's readings, the brothers had been so worn out by the fight they decided to rest for a moment in the city before heading back to the e.d.f.
Shiny looked at the chaos they had caused surrounding them and the Kaiju's corpse, crushed buildings, rubble, and debris everywhere, it wasn't a fancy sight, the citizens would not be happy.
Finally, Shiny, who was sitting on top of a building, stood up straight and stretched, even though he was a robot and didn't need to. He then turned to Thunder "Alright lil bro, I think it's time to leave before the citizens and news reporters come back and catch us in this mess-." However, Shiny's words trailed off as he noticed that Thunder was staring at something.
He leaned over to see what Thunder was looking at, but at first, he couldn't see anything and looked back at Thunder, confused. "What?" he asked tilting his head, but Thunder didn't respond, only pointed. Shiny looked to where he was pointing and froze.
A kid, seemingly only under the age of 9, peeked from behind one of the buildings and coughed, dirty from the debris everywhere, and blinked up at them, It took Shiny a second to process before he gasped and jumped into action.
"Hey, kid!!" He began, his tone switching to a friendly one, and crouched.
"What are you doing here? Where are your parents? Are you hurt?-"
Thunder, worried Shiny was going to overwhelm the kid who was probably already in shock, shoved Shiny aside and crouched to speak to the child.
"What is your name?"
Shiny looked angry at Thunder but turned his attention back to the kid, who spoke through looking nervous.
"…. Jonathan." His voice was light, and he slowly walked out from behind the building, rubbing his arm nervously.
Shiny's cut-in
"Well, nice to meet you, Jonathan! Now what in the heck are you still doing here? The citizens were evacuated hours ago! And where are your parents?"
"….i- I got lost-" his voice suddenly cracked. "I don't know where they are- we were going to the car and-" he suddenly began to cry.
Thunder, in an attempt to comfort the child, spoke. "crying is useless in this situation -"
The child cried louder and Shiny glared at Thunder and nudged him harshly before quickly extending his hands to console the child.
"Hey, it's ok kid! We'll find your parents! I'm sure they're ok and probably very worried!" He said, offering his hand.
Jonathan looked at the hand for a moment before crawling onto it and Shiny gently lifted him and stood up.
"Come on thunder, we'll go back when we find this guy's parents." Shiny smiled down at the kid, who seemed a bit relieved as Thunder followed behind. ~•~
As the brothers walked across the hot, empty plain, marching to where the citizens were supposed to be evacuated to, near the mountains, Shiny had started a conversation to help comfort the child, and it had worked because the nervous child was now yapping away about his home life and friends.
"There's this girl I know, she's nice…I gave her a flower the other day!' he spoke in his soft voice and Shiny was awed.
"Well good for you!' he smiled and lifted one of his fingers to the kid for a high five, the kid smiled and leaped up and high-fived him, but upon landing he suddenly frowned and coughed into his arm, he coughed for a bit to long and shiny got concerned.
"You ok?" He asked, getting worried.
"Yea-" Jonathan coughed "My moms say I have asthma" he wheezed.
"Do you have an inhaler?" Thunder suddenly spoke up, also getting concerned.
Jonathan shook his head.
"It's with my moms-" he suddenly coughed again and Shiny looked to Thunder, a worried look.
"THEN LET'S PICK UP OUR PACE!" he announced before beginning to run, thunder followed shortly after, but tried to tell him to slow down to avoid risking injury to the child, but Shiny ignored him.
Jonathan giggled between coughing, the wind whipping at his face, ruffling his hair.
Suddenly, Shiny picked up a signal, a call from Alex, he quickly answered it and Alex sounded confused.
"Shiny where are you guys? You were supposed to be back twenty minutes ago?-"
"SORRY ALEX CANT TALK! KINDA BUSY!" And suddenly hung up, leaving Alex dumbfounded.
The shiny metal of cars suddenly came into view as Shiny drifted around the corner, thousands of colors and people honking and complaining.
He hauled to a stop and looked around, thunder finally joining his side, on a call with Alex, and was explaining what was taking them so long.
"ATTENTION CITIZENS!" Shiny hollered, lifting Jonathon in front of him.
"WHO'S KID IS THIS?"
Jonathon peered over the edge of Shiny's hand, looking around expectantly for his parents.
No one responded, people practically ignored the brothers, despite the fact they were massive and easy to see, and only continued honking and yelling at each other.
Jonathan looked disappointed and worried, continually rubbing his arms nervously.
Suddenly, something erupted in the air, catching everyone by surprise and causing them to look up. Smoke swirled in the air where the missile had exploded. Thunder had fired a missile to gain the citizens' attention. He closed the shoulder compartment where the missile had come out of and looked at the citizens. They were now paying attention to him. Shiny looked surprised at Thunder, who only looked back at him with an irritated face and gestured for him to speak. Shiny snapped out of it and spoke up.
"We found this kid in the city! Anyone know who he belongs to?" He asked, there were some moments of silence before someone hollered from the crowd.
Two women shuffled past the cars shoved past people and waved their hands in the air all the while yelling, practically crying.
"JONATHON!" They squealed, pushing to the front of the massive crowd.
"THATS OUR KID!"
Suddenly a massive smile appeared on Jonathan's face and he yelled back.
"THAT'S THEM!-" Suddenly he coughed from his sudden outburst and Shiny quickly knelt and held him out to his parents.
He slid off Shiny's hand and upon touching the ground he was scooped up by his two mother's tight embrace as they cried in delight, rocking him back and forth in their arms.
Shiny smiled at the wholesome moment, standing back up.
One of the women looked up at Shiny with tears in her eyes and a big smile.
"Thank you! Thank you both so much! We thought we lost him!' she thanked, and Shiny nodded.
"No problem miss! Just try to keep an eye on your kid when there's an evacuation next time.' he chuckled, and the woman nodded, restating over and over they would, finally letting go of Jonathan, the taller women handed Jonathan his inhaler, upon breathing it in he seemed to be filled with relief and seemed much more relaxed.
The three of them walked back into the crowd, Jonathan bosting about his trip with the brothers, all the while looking back every second and waving at the brothers.
Shiny waved back and sighed with relief, before turning to thunder and froze.
"Thunder….are you…getting emotional!?'
Thunder suddenly turned away, hiding the smile on his face.
"What? No, you need to have your sensors checked at the e.d.f. repair center." He answered coldly, marching away in the direction of the e.d.f.
Shiny followed and laughed, "Oh come on! Admit it! You're happy he found his parents!"
The two argued as they marched back to the e.d.f, shiny teasing thunder the entire way.
Alex looked at the screen, and Kernal tilted his head.
"Robots, built to kill Kaiju's - helping children…." He said, rubbing his forehead.
"Hey, I think it's wholesome!" Alex argued, laughing a bit.
