you know i love input and feedback, and i’ve been sitting on something for a while that i’d like to gauge the reaction to. (disclaimer: i’m going to ultimately do what i want but i value the opinions of folks who appreciate what i do!)

i’ve promised multiple times that i intend on finishing reliance — i still do. to make it quick and blunt, i started writing that story when i was maybe 21 years old and my perspective has changed a lot since then. i sit down and i re-read what i’ve published, and i love it for what it is; this hobby has often kept me afloat when i most needed it to. at the same time, i’m not that author anymore. i’m not the college kid who believes in true love and has never been to therapy and is too afraid to assert herself enough to even have an identity crisis… but she’s the one who wove those themes into reliance and ineloquently tried to unpack them as she projected onto neji and tenten. i’ve done more processing and i now know what i wanted to express back then, and the gap is hard to bridge. i’m struggling to finish the story as written.

so that leaves me with a few options:

A) power through and finish the story as intended

B) edit the existing story to tie up loose ends and abandon plot lines i never got to and let chapter 15 be an open-ended conclusion to the fic

C) republish the whole fic, staying true to the heart of the story (and the bulk of the plot as well), and don’t accidentally take a years long hiatus

i know which one i’m leaning toward but i also think things through better when i can talk them out, so this is my attempt to do that. let me know what you think!
