This is cognitive Akechi, not the real thing, but doesn’t that just make it worse? Shido’s perception of Akechi is that he will do anything for Shido. Allow me to repeat that for a fourth time. Anything.

It is not a coincidence that this line is immediately followed by cognitive Akechi saying this.

“But look at yourself… you’re the true puppet. You wanted to be acknowledged didn’t you? To be loved? You’ve been nothing but a puppet from the very beginning.”

Please. Look me in the eyes and tell me that Goro Akechi wasn’t a grooming victim. I don’t care how Akechi himself dresses it up, talks about revenge or hatred or trash. Akechi himself is actually extremely good at hiding the fact that he is a victim both from others and from himself. But that does not change the fact that he is and always has been a grooming victim, manipulated by Shido into becoming a child soldier. I don’t know about you but I don’t normally blame child soldiers for being handed guns and told to shoot.

A quote from Shadow Shido to back this up:

“He was sharp, but in the end he was just a kid. I controlled him merely by offering praise.”

I mean, come on. He knew what he was doing, specifically exploiting the fact that Akechi was a child who was in over his head.

And so, in acknowledging this, I feel we are left with one conclusion, although you’ll have to excuse me for putting my foot down on something that is ostensibly a headcanon. Not only is Akechi a grooming victim, but he is also a child sexual assault victim.

Like I said, this is a headcanon, so I don’t have much textual evidence to go off of. All I’ll say, therefore, is this:

is not entirely accurate. i'd already heard that it's more accurately translated as something along the lines of "you like joker, don't you?"

but i'm going through the p5r script and stumble across this line, so i decide to throw it into google translate to see this for myself. and this is what i end up with.

but ok, we all know google translate isn't the most reliable, especially these days. so i decide to do a little more research into it. and this is what i find.

i tried to look into it more, to see if there are any solid romantic undertones here, but i hit a bit of a dead-end since this term doesn't seem to usually be used for people. it's most often used to indicate being pleased with something or to have a favorite object. still, applied to akechi viewing joker as a favorite or being pleased with him...yeah. that's still pretty fucking gay.
