Ellie's HEADCANONS, both when crushing and in a relationship stage, or in general too, do you have a bunch to share?

i was born to share these. not a second goes by i’m not thinking about her! i've got a few different modern-ish head cannons for relationship level categories. this was a bit rushed. i’m probably gonna go in, fix them up and add more later!

crushing :

ellie is so painfully obvious about it. her cheeks always flush when you’re near and she becomes a stuttering mess. it’s embarrassing, but she really couldn’t care less.

ellie would have countless off guard drawings of you— her journal completely filled with detailed sketches of you doing the most mundane things. honestly, she’d fill up two journals minimum.

she overthinks everything. she analyzes every little detail, from the way you look at her to the way you smile. and if you ever compliment her? god don’t even expect a coherent sentence out of the girl for at least a few hours.

this girl wants to impress you so badly, even if the shit she does is insanely lame. she always has her switchblade on her, so of course, she learns 'cool' tricks to show off. spends hours practicing, only to play it off like, 'yeah, cool, right? just found out i could do it,' with a chuckle.

ellie writes a song about you. it’s vague on purpose, just in case anyone ever hears her strumming it out on the guitar and singing, which she does fairly often.

canon ellie would undoubtedly always find a way to be your patrol partner. every. single. time. it gets to the point where maria doesn’t even let her speak anymore— just gives her a look and nods, already knowing.

talking stage :

ellie would definitely accidentally prove how much she pays attention to you in the cutest ways. like, you mention liking something once, and eventually, she shows up with a whole stash of it. if you ask her about it, she just shrugs and mumbles, 'well, you said it once… months ago.' yeah. down bad.

ellie never shuts the fuck up about you at allll. jesse and dina have to set a limit to how many times she can bring you up per hangout.

she would totally write your name on her skin after dina mentioned something about manifestation. ellie laughed her ass off at the idea, calling it bullshit— then went and did it that night anyway, like a total hypocrite. just to see if it would work.

ellie would have so many screenshots of your texts. she just can’t help it. every little thing you say is saved and revisited by the group chat herself, dina and jesse have. she spams that shit til someone tells her what she wants to hear.

back to the song, she plays it for her jesse and dina who tease her relentlessly for it. the lyrics are vague, but she somehow managed to make it so obvious. 'you have to just tell her, dude,' jesse says, clutching his chest like he’s pained by ellie’s lack of game.

dating :

at this point, she’s completely comfortable with you— so much so that she doesn’t care how corny she is. if anything, she leans into it. you’re plastered all over her socials. her posts, her profile pictures, her stories— everywhere.

she cracks dad jokes she learned from joel, delivering them with way too much confidence. she insists that she’s fucking hilarious and if you don’t laugh? you’re 'just a hater.'

she looooves taking 0.5 pictures of you, especially when you’re sleeping. you’d wake up to an onslaught of them. of course she thinks they’re the equivalent to cold.

ellie loves being babied, idcccc. she comes to you all pouty, practically draping herself over you, mumbling about how she needs cuddles. you both know she likes to lay on you just so she knows you’re still there.

i think ellie’s definitely the type to cut her own hair. she never trusts anyone to get it right. but she lets you. of course, she spends a couple hours lecturing you beforehand, getting all serious about it. still, she trusts you enough and that warms you up on the inside.

my girl is clingy as hell. in the middle of the night, when you get up to use the bathroom, she’s trailing after you. she stands in the corner with her sleepy eyes shut while you go. on the rare chance you tell her no, she stands outside, forehead pressed against the cool door. her body doesn’t know the difference between war and three minutes apart from you when she’s tired.

ENJOY SOME PICS

Joel (except in survival situations) doesn’t close doors behind him. Obviously when his guard is up, he does, but in normal life he’ll walk into Ellie’s room and leave without closing the door. Parent behavior.

The other kids in Jackson were surprised by Ellie’s detachment from violence on patrols. Everyone’s pretty much fine with blood and shooting except the few ‘sheltered’ kids. As sheltered as you can be in the apocalypse. But Ellie, raised by ‘Killed A Whole Hospital in 20 Minutes’ Joel, is especially competent in the whole killing business. Maybe some of the other 16 year olds had apprehensions about killing other humans if they got hit by hunters, but I feel like Ellie could and would kill any threats.

Ellie picked up a little southern accent while she lives with and around Joel, Tommy, and Maria.

Jesse would help organize and even host some community events in Jackson.

Dina is incredibly competitive about things like board games. If you’re against her in any game, casual or not, you will lose, and you will lose so badly it will be remembered for generations. Being on her team though? Just go to boot camp instead, it’ll be less stressful.

I mentioned in another post that Ellie throws herself into patrols to feel like she has a purpose after losing her chance at being The Cure. Because of this, I feel like Ellie would have a really hard time relaxing in Jackson. She’d always have to have a patrol or some kind of job, usually a physical labor one, otherwise she’d feel like she’s wasting time or being lazy. While it’s Not Great for her mental health, she does gain a lot of muscle from it.

Following the previous one, I think her need to be productive / on patrol would cause problems in her relationships. It could escalate to the point where Kat or Dina might’ve felt like they couldn’t have peaceful moments between them because Ellie always had to be working, and when she wasn’t, she’d be distant.

It would be kinda funny though if Ellie disappeared for days on end on patrol like your outdoor cat then show up again, no warning no greeting like nothing happened. Stray cat Ellie everyone.

Joel and Ellie do not express their feelings to each other verbally, although they understand how the other is doing anyways. Joining in on family dinners is a little awkward because they’re used to just. Dead silence.

Joel tells stories about Ellie as a kid (14 year old) more than he talks about anything else, especially to close friends like Tommy or sometimes to Dina. Dina is surprised to learn that Ellie was a chatterbox and extroverted as a kid, because while she can get excited about her hobbies now, she’s changed so much since 14.

Jesse has so much rizz but just never uses it.

Dina has so much rizz and uses it all the time, everyone in town is wrapped around her finger and theyre perfectly fine with that.

Ellie has no rizz. She just stands there and the entire lesbian population wants to jump her.

Joel has half the women, and probably some men, in town secretly thirsting over him and he has no idea. It does not cross his mind that Susan from the market gives him free food with a wink and a smile. He just accepts the vegetables and moves on.

like she's doing her own thing, drawing or writing or playing video games or whatever. and you're cross legged behind her on the bed tousling her hair and scratching at her scalp and putting it in silly styles

and then you rest your chin on her shoulder, pressing a light kiss to her cheek and she leans into it and hums

"you wanna see?" you ask, making out like you'd actually done something to mess with her

and she looks at you with a tiny smile and is like sure, wandering over to the mirror before immediately scoffing and turning back around to glare at you playfully when she sees her reflection

"the fuck is that?"

you've put, like, three pigtails haphazardly around her head, choppy strands of hair poking out of the braids

"what do you mean? that's my best work."

"yeah, it's beautiful," she chuckles, making her way back over. she tugs the hair ties out and ruffles her hair back to normal, face scrunching as she does so

"well, you've just ruined it now."

"how will i live?" she deadpans, resting one knee on the bed and reaching over to squish your cheeks together

"get off," you say, trying not to laugh, grabbing at her wrist

"or what?" she grins. she loves messing with you, loves the way you always act like you don't enjoy it, really

you just roll your eyes at her, allowing her to gently shove you down and situate herself on top of you

"or what?" she repeats in the same annoying tone of voice, peppering kisses over your cheeks and nose, threading the fingers of one hand through yours and holding it above your head. "real quiet now, huh?"
