I was thinking of adding her to my list of danganronpa ocs (ultimate ones) but considering i already have 24 in my basement, i really shouldnt 🥹💔 plus kaedes already the ultimate pianist so i dont wanna look like im being unoriginal

BUT i may or may not make her a part of my ultimate violinists backstory, thats the least i can do for her cuz she genuinely came out better than i thought AND shes one of the very very very few characters ive ever made who wears a skirt LMAOOOO i hate skirts. She was originally gonna have that slit in her skirt expose her leg (idk how to explain it) but my fav girl @rainespy (<3) and i felt that it was too revealing so i just decided to cover it and say that the skirt just has an indent thingy idk what to call it 💔 (plus it also makes it looks like the skirt has a missing piano key so thats convenient !)

Oh yes and the art style change again. Mfs will NEEEVER see me using the same style for even 3 drawings in a row 😁

Wait but i genuinely like how this looks though, the lines just feel nicer to look at but maybe its because i didnt use pure black and white (ᓀ ᓀ) i need to do that more often so its easier on my eyes and easier to color </3

Explanations:

Buneary

His parents were Sylvian cultists. Yknow. Like bunny masks. Bunny. It’s a rabbit. Also it evolves through friendship (a strong bond) into Lopunny, which is (unfortunately) a pokemon a lot of people view in a specific way :/

The buneary was gifted to him shortly before the two of them left him. It’s the last thing he has to remember them by. But does he really WANT to remember though?

Despite having it since a very young age. His Buneary has not evolved. Mostly because the ‘friendship’ stat just isn’t high enough. It’s not either of their faults, you just can’t force a bond. And even though they’re not a good pair they’re the only ones the other had.

Despite not liking him enough, its protected him though. They’re pretty strong (in canon atleast. Their actual stats are pretty subpar) and constantly alert. Living alone on the streets, the two of them depended on eachother until…

Garbordor

Found not too long after having been abandoned, Daan found his Garbordor when it was still a trubbish. The first Pokémon he caught himself and the one of the four with the strongest bond.

It was also abandoned at roughly around the same time by its previous trainer and clung to any attention it was given.

I don’t really have much to say. They were both young, abandoned, and that’s that.

I kind of wanted an excuse to draw Garbordor. I love Garbordor and trubbish so much. They’re in my top 20 favorite pokemon.

Nickit

Nickit had snuck into the Von Dutch estate during Daan’s time working there.

It was trying to steal some random shiny thing that had drawn its attention and instead of throwing it out, he caught it.

It’s super friendly (although easily distracted and a little bit of a pest when it comes to food) and very clingy.

It does NOT get along with Buneary.

Indeedee

Given as a gift to Daan from Baron Von Dutch when him and Elise got engaged.

Male Indeedee are able to pick up on people’s emotions and take care of those in need. They get stronger the more positive emotions it’s around. And Daan, even then, could have used a lot of help.

Despite looking pretty aloof and uncaring, it worries a lot about him

The one taking care of Daan during the period of time just before the game where he was trying everything he could to bring Elise back or save her in some way.

[1] like trainer, like pokemon.. I wonder how Daan felt about receiving Buneary for the first time then realizing that it's the last parting his parents would ever give. Do they want Daan to be consistently reminded of what they prioritized over their own child? It isn't the pokemon's fault ofc, but I feel like Daan would've been so so weirded out (before his parents abandoned him)

[2] AWWW I can't lie Garbodor and Trubbish have a special place in my heart.. So goddamn CUTE!! It shows another caring side of Daan (both it having a good relationship w/ Daan AND it evolved 🥹)

[3] AWW X2 little RASCAL. Nickit could (assuming) possibly cause trouble by stealing smth from some guy... No wonder they don't get along with Buneary but but at least they're friendly!! Daan has such caring pokemon >▽< (well, sorta for Buneary)

[4] AHH that's so interesting holy?? Man that Indeedee must've been working overtime while helping Daan... I feel bad for him but it's so nice seeing Daan having a team that cares for him 🥹

Indeedee must've felt so distraught after both Elise and her father died. Even more so when he helped Daan trying to bring Elise back to life..oh that HURTS to think about

Lastly... Oh.... Liepard Pocketcat... I assume Daan doesn't go near cat-like pokemon. I have a stupid thought that every Pocketcat is a different type of cat-like pokemon throughout the ages. Maybe Daan would be very wary against cats because of that?

[1] I LOVE that the exposed heart is the focal point, but it's interesting that neither sibling is actually protecting it in the conventional sense. Like, Alkali is forcing it to remain exposed. It makes Hank look permanently vulnerable despite being the "unkillable" one... WAIT I ALMOST DIDNT SEE THAT HANK'S DOESN'T HAVE A HEAD?? OH THATS ALKALI

[2] Everything about the pose suggests neither of them knows how to exist independently anymore.. it feels like two people whose identities have collapsed into "the one who protects" and "the one who must be protected"

Hank not having a head literally says sm about their dynamic.. Like you said, Hank is FULLY dependent on Alkali, and even in both of their moonscorched form Alkali is fully the one giving directions !! Holy shit!! AND the fact before moonscorching, if Alkali died first, Hank doesn't even live out to roam as a moonscorched?? Yet the same cannot be said vice versa?? HOLY WOW

[3] Lastly, I love that Vestigial isn't even fully merging themselves to become one person !! Really looks more of a parasite yet an essential body part for Hank (since he doesn't have a head)

Alkali's moonscorch form reminds me of the nervous system in a way. Gen puts more emphasis that hes the one telling what Hank has to do.

You dont know how much ive absolutely cherished all these 4 (almost 5?!?!) years of friendship ☺️. Ive said it so many times already but its still true that my life genuinely would have gone such a different path and i wouldve been a much more different person than who i am today (；∇；)

If it werent for you, i wouldnt have been able to create such amazing memories nearly every day. Funny ones (where we struggle to keep our laughter in at 1am despite having school the next day), comforting ones (where i can confide in you when i feel stressed out and your advice would be goated af) and even the chill ones (where we play games, share our screens, draw while singing, etc.) too. Even the simple moments where you send a screenshot of your progress in drawing something (e.g. zugais moonscorched form) makes me happy because of the fact that you decided to take time to show me in the first place and talk about your ideas (ˊ˘ˋ*)

Even when we vc'd last night and did multiple things like draw, sing miracle musical, talk about zugai and his daily gender reveal, they all made me grateful inside because i got to spend time with such an astounding friend. Even until now, i cant believe that we met each other from a stupid roblox bfb rp game LMAOO Σ(￣0￣；)

2022 me never wouldve thought that i could be someone like 2026 me but thanks to you, i have. Youve pulled me out of so many situations where i wanted nothing but the worst for myself, and thats genuinely so freakin admirable because i didnt think that i would be able to find someone who i could share literally anything with without having to fear that ill be judged. Herder is the only Pokémon that Karin has from childhood. She happened to have the pokeball with her when Dahlia took her, leaving any others she had behind.

Pokédex entries state that Herdier is a loyal pokemon that helps raise & guide other pokemon, but will refuse to obey anyone who it views as having disrespected it.

As for why is isn’t evolved into a Stoutland, uh idk. Sometimes in the anime atleast it’s possible for a pokemon to just straight up refuse to evolve.

Fearow

Fearow was caught by Karin when she was a child, and it was still a spearow. Dahlia was very opposed to this, since spearow aren’t exactly a pretty or easy pokemon. It was a small act of rebellion kind of?

Eventually, it evolved.

Also

Fearow in my opinion are loosely similar to common vulture depictions. Long crooked neck? Sharp beak? Long rougher feathers on the back? Scraggly feathers? Yeah that’s kind of just how most people tend to depict vultures. I know it’s not one, but close enough.

Her Fearow is very friendly though. A good boy!!! :D

Furfrou

For a decent chunk of the last 100 years France has been stereotyped as stylish and fashionable. So it’s not TOO farfetched that Dahlia would also have been intrigued by it

Furfrou is a pokemon that’s basically only been available in Kalos, the pokemon region based on France, and is said to have been exclusive to nobility or the upper class for most of the pokemon world’s history

So that would likely translate the same into this AU as well.

And since Dahlia was for the most part mainly interested in her public image and living a life of luxury, it would be reasonable for her to have gotten a Furfrou or two.

Karin was given her furfrou by dahlia. She feels pretty conflicted about it. It’s disobedient and there’s also that emotional aspect she won’t ever touch on, but it’s not the Pokémon’s fault. She doesn’t hold that against it.

Phantump

Phantumps are rumored (and basically confirmed) to be the spirits of dead kids who got lost in forests. But let’s ignore that last half about being in forests.

Or maybe not idk

Karin found this phantump on the battlefields

While writing and trying to investigate, the phantump started following her around and she couldn’t get it to leave so eventually gave up and caught it.

Been implied from my previous notes but this phantump when it was human was a child soldier.

For extra angst, i think I’ll say it was a member of the group that Levi was put in charge of. Maybe it would remember him.

Herdier was definitely standoffish when it realized that Dahlia didn’t truly have Karin’s wellbeing as a top priority and tries* to make her take breaks when she’s overworking herself.

Herdier starting to become hostile towards Dahlia and then Karin having caught her (at the time) spearow shortly after is part of why she got the furfrou. They’re meant to be trimmed in fancy ways and paraded around as a status symbol. Similar to how Karin was also being used (ransom money funding a lavish lifestyle, etc.)

For an added layer of angst, part of why the Furfrou disobeys and slightly resents Karin is because it misses Dahlia. It WAS owned by her before being given to Karin. Animals (or in this case pokemon,) sometimes can’t process that their caretaker isn’t a good person and can have behavioral issues when moved to a new home. It misses being spoiled and the luxuries it was used to. Going from having its fur meticulously groomed and colored to trudging through some less than ideal places would’ve been a total shift in environment.

And yeah. I love the headcanon of Karin being more empathetic and kind towards kids and teens. Especially since it just seems right? Like how she comforts Levi in that one bit of dialogue (in? Some part of the orphanage? I forgot where exactly.) and how when she moonscorches, she’s carrying the bellends.

Also yeah!! I think she comforts (in her own way) Levi in the rrher dimension of the orphanage

I vividly remember her saying in the party talk when you go in the Orphanage (or somewhere near? I can't recall that well),

"Children are the true scars of war."
