i dont ever truly know what it is exactly im saying but i enjoy working through getting the words out
my most honest truth is my being and i do not feel real
what are white gay men going through
hi short rant i was just watching a show w my boyfriend and the show made various jokes about the main teenage girls saying things about/obsessing over their looks + bodies, trying to convey them as shallow & make women (yet again) the butt end of some shitty jokes blah blah blah shut UPPP
the immense pressure and overall unrealistic standard that is set for women is ridiculous: you must be conventionally beautiful; you cannot try too hard; be a sweetheart; dont be annoying
(so on and so forth, you get the point).
I understand making jokes is one thing, but when are we gonna look at what we're joking about? women being painted as shallow for worrying about their looks/ how they're presenting to others in a world that solely tells them they cannot fuck up is a BEYOND insane and gross standard.
i DO agree, looks and attractiveness isn't and shouldn't be a top priority, there is so much more to people and WOMEN than anything looks could ever show. becoming obsessive or worrying too much about your looks IS damaging (especially at a young age). i understand the humor they attempted to convey, it's just incredibly ignorant to act like society isnt the reason girls (teens especially) struggle with self image. we blame the reactors for reacting, rather than society for instigating.
