You know what?
I want more Representation. What we have? Fine, sure, it’s great and all, we’ve definitely come a long way, but
I want more.
I want a story that ends in a qpr being formed.
I want gay relationships and straight relationships where one, some, or all of the partners are trans.
I want queer people of color.
I want bi people to be shown dating both the same gender and a different gender from themself and still be shown to be bi.
I want a love story with demiromantic characters where they’re friends, good friends, for years and years before entering a healthy relationship.
I want non-binary main characters.
I want women to be shown to be strong and capable, and not in that creepy sexy-strong way.
I want trans kids where it’s both a big deal and not, where they get to celebrate and be themselves.
I want characters that use neopronouns.
I want men shown to be open and honest about their feelings and to respect when they have made a mistake.
I want genderfluid characters who change pronouns and it’s not a big deal.
I want adults to genuinely, truly apologize for their mistakes and try and fix them.
I want queer Asian and Hispanic and Arabian main characters.
I want asexual main characters.
I want poly representation, I want people to be shown that having more than one partner means nothing more or less than having just one.
I want aromantic main characters.
I want little boys to choose to wear dresses and little girls to choose suits and kids to just wear whatever they want.
I want 13 year olds who look like 13 year olds and not 21 year olds.
I want more respected, well-done, accurate Muslim characters.
I want kids in abusive families to get away and find a home where they are safe.
I want adults to be shown to be wrong.
I want sex to be discussed more for all genders. I want the stigma around it to decrease.
I want kids to be shown to be right.
I want movies where romance isn’t even hinted at. At all.
I want movies where two main characters around the same age don’t fall in love. Ever.
I want Muslim characters and lgbtq characters to be shown to get along, to be friends, to be allies to each other’s communities even if they don’t agree.
I want abortion to be discussed and shown that it is a person’s choice to have one, and they should have that choice.
I want periods to be discussed more for all genders. I want the stigma around it to decrease.
I want people to see that marginalized groups are just as human as they are. I want people to see that things they think of as bad, shameful, or taboo are normal, healthy, and something to celebrate. So much of our life is influenced by the media. And I want it to reflect real life, real people, not the pretend version that is currently the norm.
