‘ I revolt you, don’t I? ‘ (dark’s koschei <33)
It was an interesting dilemma. The other should revolt him. They'd spent years constantly being a thorn in each others side. Not to mention they were on completely different sides on the morality spectrum.
The Doctor, ever the hero of the universe and especially of earth. On the opposite side; The Master, who took every chance he got to try and destroy what just that. All a grand ploy to get his attention.
Did he revolt him though? No, the Doctor couldn't say with certainty that he did. Despite the fact that he was wearing Rory's face.
"You should revolt me," He admitted out loud, though he couldn't get himself to look at the other time lord. "You're wearing Rory's face, you've done a lot of things that would earn it. "
Although the way judging by the way he'd briefly seen the other look at him, he was sure he knew something The Doctor didn't. "You don't seem to revolt me this time around, why?"
deathxproof:
“I knew this already, but you really do see things in complete black-and-white sometimes, did you know that?” Koschei asked, his head tilted as he looked at the Doctor, grappling with the reality of Rory’s last few moments. “— He did it willingly. He found out what it was. Wanted to spare Amy the possibility of watching it open. That was his last choice. You know how bad it can get if a person is aware of their vessel for too long. It just took a little bit of convincing. Just to be told it was the right choice.”
There was no other option, really. And he was still a bit soft. He liked poking and prodding at the Doctor, but Koschei supposed he couldn’t help but want to give the Doctor some solace in that moment.
The Doctor was looking into his eyes and he was grinning, maintaining that eye contact as they stood there, as he kept the Doctor so close that they were practically touching beyond the hold he had on him. And then he saw the way the Doctor’s expression changed when his eyes finally found what he was showing off. And he was too proud, entirely too committed even for one of his games. Because he’d show off what Dark did to him to anyone, but this was far more special.
“I’d argue I know you better than anyone in the universe. I think you might be inclined to agree.” Koschei said as he tried to deflect this onto a different person, a different man. “But you did, and you were so happy to do it, too…” He says, tugging at the Doctor’s wrist again- and this time Koschei does make him touch him, guides fingers to brush along the scar before he had a chance to retreat. Dances along the edges of his psychic link just to taunt him with the fact that it was there.
“I kind of just wanted to see the look on your face…” Koschei says, and his own eyes were just a bit lidded, a smirk on his face. “If I ever see your TARDIS I’m just not able to help myself. I have to go meddle even for a little bit, you know me. At least before he goes and gets jealous that I went off to go pay attention to you, sweethearts… Mm. Worth it.”
The Doctor wanted to say that the Master was wrong but he couldn’t. He knew all too well what is was like. Living with the knowledge that the true self was locked away. The memories that slipped out in the form of dreams. It was enough to drive someone mad, could change them into a different person entirely. If Rory had come to know about it, then he didn’t blame him.
“I don’t doubt that he opened it for the right reasons, but tell me, did he know before or after that Doctor told him?”
Looking at the scar, he wasn’t so sure of himself now. He didn’t personally make this scar, but the way the other time lord talked with absolute confidence, was enough to make him question his stance. Then he became all to aware of the psychic link he’d hadn’t been aware of having existed until this moment.
“The wound isn’t deep enough to be of ill-intent..” The Doctor was aware of the fact that he’d basically proven the other right with one sentence. “But it probably hurt, so what happens to me in the future that I would do something like this? We clearly have a connection, I can feel you knocking around my head, so you should have any idea what happened.”
The Doctor finally managed to direct his eyes away from the scar that Koschei felt so very proud of, ignoring the urge to meet the other’s eyes.
“Regardless, I’m not him yet, I’m not the version that sets you free. So how can you be so sure you are not messing with timelines just by coming here?”
