Listen, i am always inwardly afraid of having my self insert, or even an OCxCanon but i will share a quick story.

I have had a sona/OC since I was like.. 9? She’s everything i wanted to be. Rich, gorgeous, has lot of wild sex and crazy adventures, is good at all the things I wanted to be good at, etc.

My best friend since I was 11, @softboiledmegg had a similar character and we both made these two just.. us. As we got older, we drew and designed different versions of them but always the same name. Every bit of ourselves were in these characters, and we would RP with them, write about them, give them kids (always paired with our canon faves!) And it was what made us happiest.

Now as I’m about to hit 30 this year, I STILL use a variation of this character.

She’s just me. She’s what I wanted to be and who I have become. 11 year old me was lucky to have a best friend who allowed me such a silly indulgence, but i’m so much happier with having Sere. I will literally fight tooth and nail for folks to get to enjoy their self inserts, and I dont give a flying hoot if you make them ‘mary sue’ ish or whatever.
