So here's another throwback! I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Travis in person, though we've spoken. But! George and I (and my littles) went out to dinner in NYC about 10 years ago. This was back when he was promoting his then-new show, Versailles (which, if you haven't watched, please do it's fantastic!) Anyways, George is such a sweetheart! Like truly, the most caring wonderful person. My kids absolutely love him

heyy hii should I write in present or past tense share your wisdom? I'm leaning towards present but I'm not 100% sure + want more ppl to like my (potential) fic hehe
I personally find myself enjoying present tense five more. Not that there's anything wrong with past. Past tells a story that already happened, but present makes you feel like you're right there experiencing it as it goes? Idk if that makes sense. I do write in both myself.

what if Ragnar somehow got captured by their enemies or too surrounded in a battle, and Athelstan absolutely went berserk and killed them all - cruelly, in cold blood, - to save him.
what if Athelstan came up to Ragnar covered in blood, panting, his frenzied eyes even brighter in contrast, and dropped his axe at Ragnar's feet, gently asking if he's alright like it's nothing. Ragnar is Not alright. he stares at Athelstan for a solid minute before blessing him with that deranged, impressed little smirk.
Athelstan looks him over, checking for injuries when he can finally tear his gaze away from his piercing blue eyes. and there are probably some, but Ragnar kisses him. they are in love.

and YES you're so smart that's so true. that battle should've been more epic in that sense. or Ragnar should've been taken prisoner somehow!! and Athelstan saved him impressively
Nooo never totally alone! I just have menopause brain and forget the internet exists sometimes lol But! I'm never leaving this fandom, so rest assured :))
And seriously, the way you described this scene literally does perfectly into that episode. The battle there was great as it was and Athelstan did save him, but imagine how much better this would've been!!
I personally think they held off a little too long on establishing them as couple. Sure, their love existed unspoken in the subtext. We all saw it. But the GA didn't until season 3, despite season 2 being heavily Athelnar-coded. I think several opportunities existed within that season to make it more generally apparent. Especially considering Athelstan's untimely demise midway through the season in which they are. They didn't have nearly enough time together on screen π
