she's my something

lydia knew she would be his anchor, even if they hadn’t started dating. after all, allison was scott’s anchor before she even knew what he was. regardless, she already planned on being the one to take care of him during full moons and helping him learn control. the only real issue was worrying about what he might do to someone that hurt her, because he didn’t have the exact same outlook scott did on things. “that’s not fair. if the bite goes wrong, i could lose you.” she reminded him, lifting her head to arch back to meet his gaze again. “are you gonna make me put pants on and drag me out or are you gonna let us just get some sleep?” she questioned, shifting the subject.

“oh, okay.” lydia nodded slowly as he clarified. she chewed on her lip knowing that she would be there for him either way. as much as she wanted to insist that he would be fine and he could handle anything, she knew he would need her. it didn’t take a genius to know that stiles had already figured she would be his anchor. “of course i’ll be there for you, with whatever you need…” she whispered, “but scott learned the hard way to be his own anchor after allison…” her mouth clamped shut, ultimately deciding not to finish the sentence. as he insisted that he would do whatever it took, she nodded again before leaning closer to hug herself to him more, her chin resting on his shoulder again. “i’m scared.” she admitted, her voice muffled by the crook of his neck.

it was clear that he wasn’t going to be very helpful on what to do on his birthday. he wasn’t the party type either, so throwing him one wouldn’t make any sense. his hobbies consisted of staring at his board, besides hanging with her or their friends. a hand rubbed at his shoulder again, as if still trying to calm  him down from being jittery about heading out. her gaze rested on his as his hands moved against the sides of her waist wondering what made the bite issue resurface tonight. deep down lydia knew it wasn’t going to go away. her gaze shifted from his to stare down at the space between them, letting out a small sigh as he expressed asking scott to do it sooner rather than later. there was still a chance the alpha would refuse, but she wasn’t going to bring that up. “you want me to be there when he bites you…” she trailed off, not sure how she felt about watching it. “i just don’t want you to fix something that’s not broken. being human is a good thing. you saw scott struggle, is that something you’re really willing to go through?” if he really wanted it, she would be there through the struggle.
