Radiant Pokémon

Welcome to my personal project: Radiant Pokémon!

A lot of people are already doing this, but I wanted to do this as well. I’m going to recreate every Shiny Pokémon. These new colorations are gonna be called Radiant Pokémon.

They’re like the Shinies of Shiny Pokémon, that’s how rare they are. Rather than being enveloped in white or yellow sparkles, Radiant Pokémon are instead surrounded by rainbow sparkles.

I have already made a few Radiant Pokémon. I’m not going to do them in order, so if you want me to make a Radiant version of your favorite Pokémon next, please send me a suggestion, and I’ll get to them on a first come, first serve basis.

Hi, everyone! I'm so sorry I haven't been posting much at all on this blog. So much so that you all probably forgot it even existed. I'm here to hopefully rectify that by picking back up my Radiant Pokémon project ... but with a twist!

Instead of just simply tracing pre-existing artwork of Pokémon to color them in, I'm instead going to draw original artwork of them. I've already finished a few Pokémon, including some brand-new ones I have yet to post on this blog. I'm drawing these Pokémon using a randomized wheel spinning technique to ensure I draw vastly different Pokémon every time (for the most part), so hopefully each revealed Pokémon will be just as fresh and exciting for you all as it will be for me to draw.

“Jolteon, the Lightning Pokémon, and an evolved form of Eevee. Jolteon is high-strung and prone to mood swings, making it difficult to train. Its lungs contain an organ that creates electricity. The crackling sound of electricity can be heard when it exhales.“

The inspiration behind turning Jolteon blue is blue electricity. Having only researched a little about blue electricity so I can explain my reasoning, electrons from the electricity provide energy to air molecules, and once slowed down they release a proton of light that appears blue in air. Seeing as Jolteon collects negative ions from the air the same way air molecules collect electrons to turn blue, I thought it would be fitting. Also, the specific shade of blue I used for Radiant Jolteon is specifically called electric blue.

“Glaceon, the Fresh Snow Pokémon, and an evolved form of Eevee. Its short fur can freeze into sharp quills when angered or hunting. It can control its body temperature, capable of freezing the moisture around itself into ice crystals. It creates powdery snow, making it popular among ski resorts.“

The inspiration behind turning Glaceon green are the very glaciers it’s named after. The insides of some glaciers appear more green than blue, so I used those colors for Radiant Glaceon.

“Vaporeon, the Bubble Jet Pokémon, and an evolved form of Eevee. Vaporeon's fins are capable of detecting moisture in the air, and will vibrate when rain is on its way. Its unique cellular structure allows it to 'melt' into water and become invisible. It prefers clean freshwater lakes.“

The inspiration behind turning Vaporeon red is the H2O molecule. Many models of the water molecule depicts Hydrogen as white and Oxygen as red -- though some depict Oxygen as blue, but Vaporeon is already blue normally. This pays tribute to Vaporeon's ability of melting into water due to their cellular structure being closer to water than any other Water-type Pokémon.

“Leafeon, the Verdant Pokémon, and an evolved form of Eevee. Having a similar cellular structure to that of plants, Leafeon is capable of photosynthesis. When young, this Pokémon smells of fresh grass; as it matures, its scent resembles fallen leaves. It is pacifistic and quiet, only fighting when absolutely necessary.“

The inspiration behind turning Leafeon red is the Japanese maple tree. It is one of the most well-known trees in Japan, and considering Leafeon is a creature of a Japanese franchise, I figured it was a good fit. I was originally going to give it orange, autumn-based colors, but that seemed too overused.
