I lost count

This day is Earth Day, and is one of the most important days of all the days. This day we honor this planet we wander upon and take a step back to realize all we are doing wrong. We take this step so we can take a new step forward, to begin doing them right. This Earth belongs to the wild things, from this red squirrel to the whales and all things larger and smaller than both. We are the caretakers and we have been failing at our jobs. Let us begin here, begin with the realization that just because we can kill the most, this does not make us the dominant species. It’s because we can love and care and show compassion and understanding and think outside our Own survival, and into the survival and thriving of another. This is our gift. This is our responsibility. Happy Earth Day. Let us begin here.
