rumira are probably such fucking DORKS about holding hands for like the first year of their relationship that it genuinely makes zoey both wanna bang her head against a wall out of frustration and kiss their dorky little faces so much because her big tough girlfriends are so shy about each other
her solution? glue their hands together for a day with superglue while they’re asleep.
there are obviously several problems with this plan.
problem number one is that her girlfriends are absolutely furious with her and won’t talk to her until she finds a way to unglue them.
this problem does become moot once rumi and mira both realize that the silent treatment makes zoey extremely anxious and start talking to her again, although they’re clearly still frustrated with her. they do also have to reassure her that they’re not gonna break up with her over a misguided attempt to make them feel more comfortable with something.
problem number two is a little less serious, although it still feels pretty serious to zoey. she can’t hold both of their hands anymore :(
problem number three is that zoey forgot to check the schedule before doing this little experiment. if she had, she would’ve seen that they have an entire day’s worth of stuff planned the next day. if she had used some more standard, easier to remove glue, it would probably have been fine, but she used some INSANELY strong glue, thinking they had a few days off in which it would wear off.
problem number four comes in the form of a series of tears in the honmoon.
they ultimately end up calling bobby, who calls celine, who sends them a tub of petroleum jelly, some lava soap, and a set of instructions.
turns out, poppy REALLY loved her pranks back in the day, and did the same thing to celine and miyeong once.
it’s kind of nice for rumi to hear this story about her mom(s), and ultimately things end up working out just fine, with rumira becoming a lot less sheepish about holding hands after that
but zoey decides to never glue her girls’ hands together even again after that because holy shit was the process to remove it annoying.
(the day she sees her eldest daughter has glue her two younger sisters’ arms together because they’d been fighting and she wanted them to get along, she just sighs and gets the old instructions, petroleum jelly, and lava soap out)
