So today I finally stopped procrastinating about writing my personal statement for grad school applications. It was definitely the easiest task I had to do for my applications so far, but I just couldn't get it started. So this morning I grabbed my cup of coffee, sat in bed, listened to some nice classical music on pandora, and began writing. I know it needs to be tweaked in a few places, but I am just so happy I finished it in the first place. I care so much about wanting to be a grad student that I overthink all of these personal papers I have to write. I am a very descriptive writer, so I was pushing the maximum character allowance. I am right at 5,502. I need just a few less. 

I always look forward to the weekends, even though I am typically spending my time at work and doing homework. BUT, this weekend I plan to sleep a lot. Yes, I am aware there is an App State home game, but I am also aware of the side effects from my lack of sleeping. Both are important.. so I plan on going to bed SUPER early tonight (Thursday) and on Friday. That way I will be well rested and ready cheer on my mountaineers. Its crazy to think this is my last home game as an undergrad. I don't want to grow up. Never have I been more excited to hit grandma status and go to bed before 10:00 each night. I'm even thinking I will have time for a spontaneous nap today, which has not happened in weeks! 

Even though this happened a week ago... i just keep thinking about how you can't take life to seriously or you'll end up running smack into some nonmoving object... such as a silver 2013 corvette. I am lucky the guy was really nice about the situation... even though i still balled my eyes out. I think he felt bad when i was trying to apologize through gasps of air. This week has been another difficult one, but I am trying to sit back and realize that its not the end of the world and things will be okay. Just a few more weeks left until Winter break. And even though i will be working, i will at least have some down time.

I'm pretty sure I have blogged about how stressed Grad School applications are making me, but I'm too lazy to go check. I just want to get into a decent school. I can't keep up with which ones i have entered what information. Its like going in circles nonstop. I disagree with some of the applications in the way that they only look at test scores and GPA, and not so much the personal stuff. But obviously that isn't my choice. I pray every night that things will work in my favor, but God has a reason for everything. Which is easier said than actually believing it. I just have a fear of getting rejected from every school I apply to, which I'm sure everyone is scared of. I just cant seem to find the time to sit down and work on them between school and my two jobs. I wish I would have rethought my time management this semester instead of working so much. Oh well, no one needs sleep on college...

Last week my best friend/roommate was in a pretty bad car accident. At first she texted our roommate group chat just saying she had a bump up and would need a ride for the next few days. After a little while I went to pick her up after her car was taken to the body shop. When i drove up i was horrified. She had rolled her car after hitting some ice from the snow blowing off of app ski mountain while on the way to an interview. The car was smashed and torn up. She had to crawl out of her sun roof to get out. It was totaled, there was no doubt in that. She was so incredibly lucky to walk away from the wreck with just a sore neck and a few bruises. Windows had been busted and gas had leaked everywhere. The car was eventually picked up by a parts place for a few hundred dollars. These past few days we have both been counting our blessings and thanking God for protecting her. 

When Monday is going to be the warmest day of the week... Luckily I brought up all of my winter clothes so wrap myself up in. The house I live in only has central heating in the living room, so I've been using a heated blanket at night. Which kind of freaks me out in the first place, but it apparently is a safe one... says my mother. But I think it is time to invest in a personal heater. I was trying to avoid getting one because I have heard so many horror stories about getting burned by them or it catching on fire. After some research I think I finally found one that will work for me! So before it gets colder and snows this week I am definitely going to go purchase one. 

Last week I lost a friend to a terrible violent crime. He was shot and killed outside of his home in Georgia, along with his girlfriend. I admit the guy, Forrest, was closer to my brother and I had only met him a few times. But his younger brother was in my grade and in my graduating class. Its a terrible thing to watch people go through a death like that. Many of my friends attended the funeral today, but unfortunately I couldn't make it. All week i have been trying really hard to tell everyone how much they mean to me. You never know when you might lose someone. I guess its true what they say, only the good die young. Forrest was 27 years old.

This weekend I was able to go home to see my family, but most importantly my puppy, Willow. Since I broke my foot, she had to go home because I can't take her on walks or play with her as much as she needs. Luckily my parents are nicest enough, and love her enough, to take her for a few weeks until i can be back on my feet (literally), But it was really hard leaving her today. When I was packing up all of my stuff she knew what was going on. She got excited thinking she was going back to Boone with me, but then started crying when she realized she wasn't. It broke my heart. We spent the whole weekend cuddling and playing a little. Some people probably don't understand but I am way close to my dog, so it felt like I was leaving my best friend behind. My mom assured me she would get over it in a day or too, but that she was still upset a few hours after I left. Hopefully Willow will get to come back at Thanksgiving!

occur when you are on campus with crutches. I was always one of those people who sat and looked at those poor souls on crutches who were hobbling around campus and just thanked God that it wasn't me. SURPRISE. I made it all the way to senior year before I had an incident that caused me to be on crutches. Today I made sure to have enough time to get to campus, get settled in, and rested some so I wouldn't look like I was dying when I got to the classroom. But then class got canceled. Funny how life loves to play little jokes like that. Even though I may be a little bitter about it at the moment.

Anyways, right before I had left to go to the ER after hurting my foot I had started watching Greys Anatomy, which was having a halloween special. Needless to say it started out pretty crazy (a man tried to eat another mans face, and a lady had bugs in her wound). I didn't experience anything quite that insane. Would have been pretty cool though! Oh but I did see a man that was going crazy and trying to run away from the ER doctors, and an old lady that looked like she had already been dead a while....

Then my nightmare occurs. I was leaving a ceremony from the APH with all of my sisters. I was walking back to my car in the dark with my roommate, when I FELL IN A POTHOLE in the parking lot. I heard a pop, I hit the ground... and that was it. After I crawled to the curb and my roommate got my car, I refused to go to the Hospital. I hate the doctors and I am quite a stubborn person. I did go home and eat lots of candy. but then I decided it was best to go seek some medical attention... turns out I had two broken bones in my left foot and a torn ligament. Now people keep joking that if I had been celebrating Halloween the "right way" I probably wouldn't have fallen, or at least broken my foot.
