SOME INFORMATION ABOUT BACKSTAGE!SANS, or Stage!
Backstory:
Stage finds a magic kit, props and a manual and also a weird looking Camera while digging out stuff at the dump, he shows it to Papyrus who becomes immediately enamored by "human magic" and starts learning all the tricks. They decide that's the show they're going to do, a magic show! "PAPYRUS THE MYSTICAL'S MAGIC SHOW!"
Stage gets really into the makings of a show from behind the curtains, studying and researching all he can to make sure that his brother's new dream of being popular on TV works out. His Camera starts acting up, during a recording of an episode the Camera somehow latches itself into Stage's socket permanently changing it to SMPTE color bars and getting rid of his Karma Ability, he gets fired from the Judge position after this.
Their show is never officially signed by the MTT BRAND, making their views pretty mid, Papyrus' lack of skill at human magic tricks didn't help either-
(The reason being Mettaton doesn't want to sign Papyrus' show because he doesn't want him to have to kill anyone, knowing he couldn't handle this. Stage didn't know this of course.)
Stage is hired by other show hosts after seeing how good he is at production, he does take their commissions at times to keep him and his brother afloat now that he wasn't JUDGE, but after each job he makes sure to fuck up the wiring and stage lights so that their shows had issues later. Have to make sure his brother shines, right?
Meanwhile, alone at the studio after hours, the Camera starts whispering things to Stage, how bad of a brother he was, how Papyrus would never get signed by MTT, how they'd all die underground and never witness human magic at the surface, like Papyrus kept dreaming about.
Sometimes tricks required an assistant and when there was no volunteer, it was up to Stage. He hates having to play magician's assistant but that came with the job, he'd have to wear that stupid get-up and get on camera, he'd always freeze up and sweat, but his tricks always wowed the audience. Papyrus looked proud and always covered the talking parts of the show to try and makeup for his brother's inability to be charming.
One day while working as a sentry a human leaves the ruins, and somehow manages to get past all of Mettaton's men. Sans 'saves' them after the Camera whispers for him to do so, the human looks like a homeless young adult, probably came from the free food adverts Alphys was broadcasting. He invites them over to his house and makes them comfortable, giving them food and clothing, in the morning they get the human to visit the studio and participate in Papyrus' show as a volunteer.
He locks them inside those magician boxes designed to cut up a person, but he doesn't tell them what to do. The show starts, Stage is holding the whispering Camera, Papyrus cuts the human on accident on live television.
After the show Papyrus distances himself from Stage, calling for Undyne as an assistant for now and Napstablook as stage crew director. Stage is kicked from the house, works for other's shows for now and rented a tiny apartment in Waterfall. Flowey reveals himself, manipulates Stage to do his bidding (get human souls).
