RACHEL: I'm good! Just indulging in some skin care.

KITTY: Yeah i'm not prepared to sacrifice my social life and populartiy for every solo. I defintiely don't care /that/ much.

KITTY: I'll just take this one.

KITTY: bring my sheet music? yeeeaaaa i'll just bring me.

KITTY: Fine fine, i'll bite my tongue. But I'm screenshotting the text that says that'll be your single request.

KITTY: My vocal range is like a gift from God himself, so i'm pretty great THERE. But I want a solo, so teach me what ever it is you do to get them all.

KITTY: no cheer practice on thursday so that totally works.

RACHEL: I'm not sure what else I'd request, so that's fine.

RACHEL: Your vocal range isn't the problem, however, you need to work on your song and your choreo for your audition if you're going to prove that you're serious about it.

RACHEL: The only thing I do that gets me solos is work hard, honestly. There's a reason why I only see my friends at school or on weekends. I'm always working on my art.

KITTY: Eh. There's like maybe one or two songs you could pull off.

KITTY: Soo... next week?

RACHEL: If you stop telling me what I can and cannot pull off, you'll have a better chance of me not leaving you on read.

RACHEL: I'm offering you help, so please don't insult me. That's my single request, okay?

That’s not embarrassing at all. I forget stuff all the time. It’s like my not-so-super superpower. I guess the closest I can get to that would be the one time I forgot the football plays during a big game. I didn’t cry for weeks or anything, but I did drown my sorrows by eating an entire thing of ice cream afterwards. 

It’s weird, I can’t imagine you playing anything but a lead in a play. I guess that’s a good way of making sure you work hard each time. Sometimes you gotta fall on your face to really drill that in your head. 

You know, I really appreciate how much you always believe in me. Like, my mom does too but… she’s my mom so she kinda has to, you know? You don’t and you still do. It’s one of the many things I think is awesome about you.

I’m just deeply emotional - it helps with my art, so I’d never complain about it, but it was a little draining that summer. Ah, ice cream, the thing I used to eat before I went vegan - just kidding, there are vegan alternatives. 

…has it ever happened to you? Or we you just born super confident in your talent?

It hasn’t happened to me, I mean, not with singing. It’s embarrassing to admit, but I once forgot a line of a monologue during an audition. I auditioned for Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire at summer camp and I mixed up two sentences of my monologue and completely got thrown off. It was humiliating, I cried for weeks. I was cast as like, the lady who hands out vegetables. So...now I just study my lines harder and try not to think so hard about the words themselves, and instead, how they make me feel as the character. I’ve gotten much better at auditioning as a result. I think you can, too, for the record. We’ll play around with the song, get you loosened up, and you’ll blow them all away. You’re you.

FINN: i figured, i just... always kinda went with it. not just with you, with everyone. when everyone else is doing something i kinda find it hard to like not do it??? does that make sense.

RACHEL: So you're willing to sit in a coffee shop you hate where nothing appeals to you *just* to be with me? You can be with me anywhere, Finn.

RACHEL: [...]

RACHEL: And I'm good no matter where I am, if where I am is next to you.

RACHEL: It makes sense, but you don't have to do anything you don't want to.

KITTY: you're right, you can't pull off pop.

KITTY: but okay... cool. thanks.

RACHEL: I wouldn't go as far as to say I can't pull off pop. I am saying that some songs aren't my particular style or cup of tea.

SAM: uh do you think i should?

SAM: cause you know i have a few things up my sleeve

BLAINE: It made me think of a good date idea. And we had to postpone the one I was going to plan when I had dinner with his family this week. And last night we hung out and did homework while staying home for Gene cause his parents had an event.

BLAINE: Why is that?

RACHEL: I'm glad I could help!!
