The Power of No

I’ve seen so many people say “It’s awful” or “Why did he have to cut it so short?” But here’s the thing… Eugene was moments away from death and the woman he loved had just sacrificed her freedom to save his life. I highly doubt that in this moment he was thinking of giving her a fashionable new hairstyle. Eugene knew that as long as Rapunzel’s hair was long and blonde, Gothel would always have control over her. So as soon as he saw his opportunity (and was probably dizzy from blood loss) Eugene did what it took to set her free. There are so many metaphors and symbols in Tangled, but Rapunzel’s brown hair is my favourite one, because it means she is free. However, the thing that really pisses me off is when people say, “Her new hair is so ugly, I liked it better long and blonde!” Because apparently having short and dark hair means she is ordinary… Um, hello… She’s still the same Rapunzel and she still has magic… the tears, remember 💧? Not even cartoon women are safe from people dictating their appearance 🤨.
