I am fortunate. Just as my last rejuvenation solution failed, I have been given another opportunity to find Nora her cure. A ship passed close to my sanctuary, today, and after intercepting it I learned it was being used to transport test subjects for some experiment. It appeared to have a great deal of funding behind it. It was of no interest to me until I read a summary of one subject’s abilities.
His name is Pi. According to the debrief, he is immortal. If I can find out why, and reverse-engineer it, I may be able to revive Nora completely.
I dethawed the man at the helm and told him to sail, and never return. I do not know what will become of those other experiments, but I could afford giving them a chance elsewhere.
Over the past few days, I’ve performed several tests and learned much about Pi’s condition.Firstly, I was incorrect. Pi can die. The difference is his deaths appear to be impermanent. Despite this, he appears to be very frail; I only discovered he can die when, while getting my equipment out, he spotted the cold gun and, presumably, died of fright. I was able to revive him with relative ease. I am hesitant to test whether or not he can come back to life on his own. I will progress with my research more gently.
I have sectioned off a part of my lab to house Pi in more agreeable conditions. After that accident, I don’t believe it is in my interest to keep him in a subzero environment, even with proper gear.
Most shockingly of all, Pi has abilities not unlike Poison Ivy’s. He can force plants to grow where there aren’t any. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this ability can apply to people, let alone to be used to regrow organs as I had hoped. I do hope Nora enjoys the flowers, though. I’ve moved her capsule closer to Pi’s enclosure.
While trying to get a sample from Pi, I startled him. He shrieked so loudly that my helmet’s glass cracked. Until I’ve recovered, that test will have to wait.
Try as I have, I cannot isolate what makes Pi unkillable. I know that he has been fundamentally altered, but whatever science granted him that power is beyond my understanding.Nora takes priority over all else. Nothing but her and her health matter to me. But there is no point in continuing my experiments with- no, on Pi. He has told me scraps of the facilities he’s been to in his past. I do not want to repeat their cruelty toward him. The chance I would discover something that could actually help Nora is minimal, anyway.
It is nearing our anniversary, and I wish to be alone. I’ve given Pi a boat, food, and a freeze grenade- in case he encounters a problem his botany powers can’t solve for him.
