That’s right folks, RFR is going to be making our first NXNE performance, this Wednesday night at the Bovine Sex Club. The night is loaded with awesome acts. We’re going to be hitting the stage at 2600hrs! That’s right, it’s 4am, aka 2800hrs last call all week, all over town for NXNE!!!

RFR has never played the Cadillac Lounge before, and now, with the fate of this iconic Toronto venue sealed, and its doors soon to close, we thought we’d sneak in there for one rocking show. 

In the spirit of the Cadillac, we’re bringing up an old school Toronto icon, Subway Elvis, to the stage. This man has lived the rock and roll life. He’s been on stages with some of the greatest rock and rollers of all time . He’s been up, he’s been down, and now, he’s going to do a few tunes with RFR.

Come down and have a blast before the Cadillac closes its doors. 

Hello to you, fellow survivors of 2017!

We’d just like to take a moment to congratulate you on your successful and continuing survival. It was a tough one for us here at RFR. We fought hard as both a band and as individuals to overcome personal daemons, external adversaries, and still continue to make music through it all. We did our best to put ourselves out there and we can proudly stand behind every performance we put on in 2017 without fear of refunds. We fucking rocked in 2017. From our last, sickness plagued, last minute made solo show at Cherry Cola’s days before Christmas, to our full tilt, all or nothing show at the Phoenix Concert Theatre this past June, our largest to date, we owned every stage we stepped on this past year. We overcame every difficulty put in our paths. Our shows not only went on, they all rocked. We nailed them all.

We take pride in everything we do here. “Lift You Up” is a perfect example of that. If you can look any of us in the eye and say that “Lift You Up” isn’t worth pittance we ask for it, then we’ll return the pittance. As of yet, we haven’t a pittance returned. 

Guess what we plan to do in 2018? That’s right. It’s going to be no different from any other year since we birthed RFR less than 5 years ago. Preproduction has begun on “Crazy/Love”, a plot driven, theatrical, double album conceived and written during Drew’s descent into madness this past November. You may have to hold out a bit before seeing us hit the stage again, you know, since we’re working on our most ambitious creative project to date, but when you do, you can be sure, we’re going to blow your minds with boundless energy, lightning skill, and heart, so much heart.

What’s that you say? It’s only been six weeks since you got ear fucked by us. Well then, it sounds like you’re due.

Wednesday Nov 8 - RFR closes off a badass lineup at the Bovine Sex Club. The drink will be flowing until 4 am and RFR is the band that is going to take you there.

Thursday and Friday Drew is going to be rocking out solo for the festival as well. Be at the Painted Lady at 11:00 to catch him on Thursday and at Kensington Hall on Friday at 8:00. Both nights are packed with top notch talent.

We love getting out on the road and playing shows here at RFR. If we had our way, we’d be living out of suitcases and using our YMCA memberships to shower in cities across the country.

In that spirit, we’ve decided to go a little end of summer stretch playing three dates back to back starting on Thursday September 21 at the Hideout in Toronto, then to the Asylum in Sudbury, and finally to the Apollo in Thunder Bay on Saturday September 23.

Come out and rock with us as we celebrate the equinox and get wild.

We have some unfortunate news for you fans of epically large pedal boards, caber tossing, and those interested in discovering whether leptin and peptide YY influence changes in resting energy expenditure...

Yes, Alex Schwartz has decided his time with RFR has come to an end. In truth, this narrator is surprised that such a fine, moral, and upstanding individual lasted as long as he did with such an amoral, rag tag group of testosterone driven apes such as ourselves. We wish the aspiring Dr. Black all the best in his future endeavours and thank him for his wonderful work ethic, energy, and musically channeled hostility during his brief time with RFR. His contribution to “Lift You Up” helped us produce our proudest work to date.

“But but, what about your gig at the Horseshoe on Saturday Aug 26th?” you ask. Well, that’s where Rick Pauolucci, who already has over 10 shows with RFR to his credit, comes in. In the interm, while our coven seeks to complete itself again, Rick, the beautiful and talented bassist from The Unchained, will be filling the void. We are so lucky and glad to have Rick by our side. We can’t wait to do some awesome shows together and return to Thunder Bay in the Fall. 

That’s it. That’s all. Drew continues to write at a furious pace in a feverish, futile attempt to postpone his eventual madness. VB is still unraveling the infinite manifold through which time divides upon itself, and Sasha is still attempting to start a fire on his fretboard due to insane melodic friction of his lightning fast fingers. Life is good here at RFR. There are still many songs to play and we are eager to play them.

June 17 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre was amazing. We kicked off a solid night of local badass talent and watched a crowd of family, friends, and new faces grow in volume swelling into the largest we’ve seen yet. We nailed our biggest, brightest, loudest, and tightest set ever. We took a stage once graced by artists like Soundgarden, Rival Sons, and, just two days earlier, the Wailers. We have set a whole new watermark for ourselves as performers. Video evidence was captured by Ryan Abramowitz from UPtrack Music:

We feel inspired and confident in our abilities. We feel creative and full of hope in what RFR is and will be. It’s time to retreat into our beloved jam space and begin pre-production on what will become our next studio release.  We are excited and won’t disappoint all the wonderful people who love what we do and have supported us during the past fours years. 

We'll be the first on stage for our next show on August 26th @ 8:00 pm at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. We will be pulling out a whole new bag of tricks and goodies for you lovely people on that late summer’s eve. Come and allow us the opportunity to entertain you. Here’s the FB event link:

Yes! That’s right. We are less than two weeks away from what will be Return For Refund’s biggest show to date. At 8:30 on Saturday July 17th we’re going to be playing one of Toronto’s premiere venues, The Phoenix Concert Theatre with some amazing local acts, namely Last Bullet, The Dreamboats, The Anti-Queens, and the Crooked.

The stars have aligned in our favour. Our video for “Lift You Up” has been released into the wild. With the release of this video, the modest vision we had for the record, and its release, has reached it fulfilment. We’re so proud of our baby and the proud, responsible parents it’s helping us become. 

A huge thank you to everyone involved in the making of this album. There wasn’t a thread of lethargy, selfishness, or apathy, present from any of the who helped put “Lift You Up” together. We’ve been so lucky with this release.

Tonight RFR goes unplugged and striped down. Sasha, VB, and Drew will be filling the night from 9 - 12 with a solid run through the RFR catalogue and some of our favourites outsiders. VB will cut the time with a laser, Sasha will shred lightning, and Drew will wail. Our technician of tone, our low end linebacker, will be sitting this one out as he rightfully focuses his energies on expanding our collective consciousness.

We've done this before, and we always leave smiling. If you find yourself on Queen Street W tonight (May 4) and feel like a tune...

Thank you to everyone who made it out on Saturday night. We had an amazing time unveiling "Lift You Up". Rory Taillon, The Tired Flames, and The Joy Arson, killed it on stage. Thanks to the Bovine Sex Club for having us and Of The Bear Bookings for helping to put it all together.

It's time to take this show on the road. Unfortunately, our badass, fiddle slinging, bass player, the mad scientist of tone, Alex Schwartz won't be able to join us for this ride. However, in his place we've been lucky enough to recruit Toronto bass legend Ricky to fill the Schwartz's massive shoes for the first 8 dates of the tour. Rick plays bass for a couple of awesome bands like the THE UNCHAINED and The Joy Arson. We're honoured to have him filling in.

Here's a shot of us, Rick, and our amazing friend and manager, Amanda, right before we took the stage in Stouffville to break a Guinness World Records last week (which we accomplished as part of the "longest live streamed concert of all time").
