Tim + his brothers
I'm a supporter of Aroace Jason Todd but also I think he and Roy Harper need to make out immediately.
This is the most normal and friendliest encounter they had all week
BATFAM FIC WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE
——————————————————————————————————————————————————
So there’s this fic I’ve read and I could’ve sworn I booked marked it. But I guess not, since I can’t seem to find it.
From what I can remember, it was finished. Multiple chapters. Above 10,000 words I want to say… probably above more. On AO3.
Ok, a key major thing I remember in the fic was that Tim’s fake uncle, “Uncle Eddie” was a paid actor. Although it was Tim’s dad, Jack Drake, who set it up. And like, the actor turned out to be a pretty chill guy. The hoax was up eventually, but Tim was still invited to the guy’s wedding. And like, sure he wasn’t there for a whole lot of the fic, but I really enjoyed how much character the author put effort into the writing.
The batfam are obviously trying to adopt little Timmer’s, but Jack was not having it. To throw them off their tail, Jake hired the actor.
Ok! The more 50/50 stuff that can be POSSIBLY applicable. This was when Tim is still a kid. Jason’s still Robin. Tim’s father was an unpleasant guy. I believe Janet Drake is dead at this time… yeah, that’s all I can recall at the moment.
PLEASE HELP. I’ll keep searching on my own, but I feel like I’m being driven insane in the membrane trying to find this fic 😵💫
I’ll answer any questions I can. Thank a lot! 🙏

The Manor is too quiet.
Not peaceful quiet.
Wrong quiet.
No comms.
No alarms.
No boots on the cave floor at 3 a.m.
Just the slow ticking of a clock and the soft creak of an old house settling around Bruce Wayne.
He sits by the window in the same chair every day.
He doesn’t remember why he likes that chair.
But he always asks for it.
⸻
Dick Grayson visits first every morning.
He learned not to wear the Nightwing blue anymore. It makes Bruce stare too hard, like he’s trying to solve a puzzle he can’t finish.
Bruce watches him enter.
Polite.
Confused.
“Hello… sir.”
Dick smiles anyway.
“Hey, B.”
Bruce tilts his head.
“Do you work here?”
Dick kneels beside the chair.
“Yeah. Something like that.”
Bruce’s hands shake too much to hold the spoon now. Dick feeds him slowly, careful and patient.
Sometimes Bruce misses and the food spills.
Dick wipes his chin without saying anything.
Like Bruce used to do for him when he was eight.
⸻
Jason Todd only comes at night.
He stands in Bruce’s doorway like someone who doesn’t belong in the house.
Bruce is smaller in the bed now.
Fragile.
Jason remembers a man who could break criminals with a look.
Now Jason just pulls the blanket up to Bruce’s shoulders.
“…Still mad at you,” he mutters.
His voice cracks.
“But you did okay.”
Bruce sleeps through it.
Jason stays until sunrise anyway.
⸻
Tim Drake manages the medications.
Charts.
Schedules.
Careful routines.
He treats it like a mission briefing.
Because if he thinks about it like strategy, he doesn’t have to think about the fact that the world’s greatest detective now forgets what pills are for.
One afternoon Bruce squints at him.
“…Robin?”
Tim freezes.
He hasn’t heard that word in years.
“Yeah,” Tim whispers. “It’s me.”
Bruce smiles.
“Good boy.”
Tim leaves the room immediately.
No one mentions the red in his eyes.
⸻
Damian Wayne reads to him.
Bruce once said knowledge was a weapon.
So Damian reads anything.
History.
Case reports.
Books Bruce loved.
Even when Bruce doesn’t understand.
One evening Bruce studies him carefully.
“…Are you mine?”
Damian goes still.
“Yes.”
Bruce nods slowly.
“You look angry.”
Damian answers quietly.
“I inherited that from you.”
Bruce forgets the conversation five minutes later.
Damian keeps reading anyway.
⸻
Barbara Gordon handles the house.
Appointments.
Doctors.
Schedules for everyone rotating through the Manor.
She used to coordinate entire citywide operations from a wheelchair and a keyboard.
Now she organizes who sits with Bruce during lunch.
One afternoon Bruce looks at her curiously.
“You seem familiar.”
Barbara smiles gently.
“I used to work with you.”
Bruce nods thoughtfully.
“You did good work.”
Barbara turns away quickly before anyone sees her crying.
⸻
Stephanie Brown refuses to let the house become quiet.
She talks constantly.
Stories.
Jokes.
Rambling nonsense.
“Okay Bruce, so Tim once tried to analyze cereal brands like it was a crime scene.”
Bruce chuckles faintly.
Not because he remembers.
Just because Stephanie’s laughter is contagious.
When Bruce falls asleep in the chair, she tucks the blanket around him.
“…You scared the hell out of all of us, you know,” she whispers softly.
⸻
Cassandra Cain doesn’t talk much.
She never needed words with him.
She sits beside Bruce and holds his hand.
Her thumbs trace the old scars across his knuckles.
Bruce studies her face one afternoon.
“You’re quiet.”
Cass nods.
“Yes.”
He studies her longer.
“You’re strong.”
Cass’s eyes shine slightly.
“Yes.”
That was always the only praise she ever wanted.
⸻
Duke Thomas comes during the afternoons.
He opens the curtains wide.
Lets sunlight fill the room.
Bruce used to own the night.
Duke brings him the day.
“Thought you might want some sun today, Mr. Wayne.”
Bruce smiles faintly.
“That’s nice of you… son.”
Duke freezes for a moment.
Then he nods quietly.
“Yeah.”
⸻
The worst day comes in winter.
Snow falling outside the Manor.
Bruce wakes up confused and frightened.
All of them are there.
Dick.
Jason.
Tim.
Damian.
Barbara.
Stephanie.
Cass.
Duke.
Bruce grabs Dick’s sleeve with shaking hands.
“Where is Batman?”
The room goes silent.
Bruce looks terrified.
“Please… someone call him.”
Jason turns away first.
Stephanie covers her mouth.
Tim stares at the floor.
Barbara grips the back of a chair.
Cass squeezes Bruce’s hand.
Dick kneels in front of him.
Bruce looks at him with desperate hope.
“Can you tell him Gotham needs him?”
Dick’s voice trembles.
“He knows, Bruce.”
Bruce relaxes slightly.
“Good… good.”
Ten minutes later he asks again.
⸻
Weeks later Bruce sits by the window.
Same chair.
Same quiet.
Dick helps him drink tea.
Bruce studies his face very carefully.
Like he’s solving a puzzle.
Dick doesn’t breathe.
Bruce whispers softly.
“…Flying Grayson.”
Dick’s heart stops.
Bruce smiles.
“My boy.”
For one brief moment—
He remembers.
Dick grips his hand.
“I’m here, B.”
Bruce nods.
Satisfied.
Then he looks back out the window.
The moment gone.
But all eight of them stay in the room.
Because even if Batman fades…
None of them will ever forget the man who made them a family
IF I were to cope and make DC terrible editorial decisions into Duke angst, I think the recent trend of Duke's story leaning towards Elaine and ignoring Doug makes sense if we think about the disparate effects of their Jokerisations. In Elaine's case, it makes her say terrible things to Duke:
All-Star Batman #2
Despite the Jokerisation, Elaine recognises Duke. She knows that's her son - she says "I know it's you" and calls his name. Snyder goes out of his way to underscore this recognition, which plays a vital role in Duke's eventual acceptance of what happened to Elaine and Doug:
All-Star Batman #4
Duke comes to understand that Elaine is only attacking him because she loves him (borne out by what happens later, when she saves him from Daryl). However, Duke interestingly includes Doug in this reasoning. Doug, who has never insulted him, whose Jokerisation has never taken the form Elaine's does. This reasoning may hold for Elaine, but it makes absolutely no sense for Doug.
We Are Robin #8
Dark Days: The Forge (2017), Dark Days: The Casting (2017)
Some tiny Duke and Hal's from the Dark Days tie in comics because they had such a fun dynamic and I hate the fact that people saw the panel of Duke punching Hal and decided to turn it into a rivalry.
An honorable mention

nothing could ever make me hate jason todd.
