GRL PWR

QUINN:

The idea of them having another drink together brought a smile to Quinn’s lips, and she agreed with a slow nod. “All right, sounds good.” She told Rachel in a soft tone as they waited for their drinks. She was so used to hanging out with friends with a different mindset –usually as rich as Quinn herself, and throwing money around without a second thought, that she found Rachel’s small suggestion refreshing. Most of her friends wouldn’t care about her paying for a drink, or even an entire meal –it was just what they were used to, not because of the money itself, but the way they were brought up.

“Oh, you know the owner?” Quinn asked, taking another look around the place. The details did impress her, and showed how much thought had gone into it. “I’ll definitely come around some other time to try those burgers, then.” She concluded with a smile, before listening in silence to what Rachel had to say. “Yes, you can taste the difference.” She agreed simply before taking another sip of her milkshake. She could feel the beginning of a brain freeze, but didn’t mind it.

She listened quietly to what Rachel had to say about the Deltas, satisfied that the girls had been treating her right, but unsure about the keeping her head down technique. Even though Rachel said it without any resentment, it still bothered Quinn. “You know, you don’t have to. Keep to yourself, I mean. I’m sure they would all like to know you better.” Quinn said when she was sure the other girl had finished. While her fingers played around with her milkshake cup, she kept her gaze locked on Rachel.  “But I’m glad you’re enjoying it so far, I know it’s a tough change. Especially with a double major.” She added with a small smile.

Wanting to change the subject to something Rachel would feel more comfortable in, Quinn cleared her throat and leaned forward. “And what about Glee club? I know I’m in now, but I feel like I know nothing about it. Do you have any plans? Like, are we going to go to competitions, like in Pitch Perfect?” She asked in an interested tone. Quinn felt like she didn’t know what she was getting herself into when she accepted Rachel’s deal. She was still unsure about singing in public, but wouldn’t admit it. “Besides, I heard that… well, that you’re very strict with it.” Quinn added while raising an eyebrow, not knowing how to phrase the fact that Rachel was known to be a dictator in her club.

RACHEL:

Pleased that Quinn agreed to pay for their drinks next time made Rachel feel better too, knowing she could repay Quinn in kindness and another opportunity to take her out. She nodded with a smile when the blonde realised she knew the owner personally. “Yes, Taylor worked with my father before setting up the shop here and I’m glad she’s doing so well. She prefers cooking than anything and there is no doubt that her food here is amazing,” she said proudly with a nod before having a brief look around like Quinn did before sipping her drink.

“Oh, I didn’t mean it quite like that. I’m just still getting used to being part of a sorority so later in my college career but I am adjusting to that as well as handling my work and classes and Glee Club as you know. It’s quite an extensive schedule and leaves almost nothing for socialising, however, I’m trying to balance it out. If one of the girls or you found me passed out on the couch or the counter top, do just give me a poke and I’ll head to bed, considering such things will likely happen,” Rachel said before humming in agreement with Quinn’s words until she furrowed her brows at Quinn when the girl mentioned Glee Club, “Oh, well, it’s a show choir and yes, there are competitions held for such activities similarly as the feature film you mentioned displayed. However, we need numbers in order to compete. With barely enough members, Mr Schue is venturing other means for recruitment and lack of interest can take us down, not that I’d let it get there. I’m certain there are other people who would be interested but far too shy to do so, such as in your case. Sorry, strict with what, exactly? I’m confused by that.”

QUINN:

“Poke and head to bed, got it.” Quinn agreed with a nod, already halfway through her drink. She could understand what Rachel has going though, as she always had a lot going on herself. It didn’t help that Coach Sylvester had decided to go crazy on the cheerleading squad lately, and had the girls working out day and night. She could feel her sore legs even while sitting there in front of the other girl, and when you add that to all of her school work and sorority responsibilities, it could feel somewhat daunting.

“How many people would you need? To go on a competition like that.” Quinn asked, suddenly curious. She didn’t know anything about show choirs, and the fact that she could be competing in one made her a little nervous. “I could help out, you know. I’m not going to broadcast to the entire world that I’m on Glee Club, but I could ask a couple of friends. And Mike can dance, you know.” She said, tugging a strand of blonde hair behind her ear. Quinn didn’t know why she was saying such things, when she know she didn’t have to help at all –it wasn’t a part of their deal. But the felt compelled to, knowing how much it meant to Rachel.
