SOFT SOFT SOFT SOFT

     fingers tangle together, seven unable to hide a smile as he stares     down at his hands. he isn’t certain how to express himself, really,      words sticking in his throat –– but it is in the best way possible. a     warm feeling wells up in his chest, little heart feeling like it might      burst from–– from–– he doesn’t know what to call this feeling, this     sensation of overwhelming emotion that washes over him. he feels     warm, he feels light, smile fit to illuminate even the darkest of days.

   ❝ ––me too, ❞ he says, though it is more than inadequate. ❝ it’s… ❞      there is a pause, and he searches for words, tries to find the best      way to express himself. he wrings his hands, fingers twisting into      a knot, and he untangles them, teeth worrying his lower lip. still,       his smile is soft, and he lifts his gaze to meet six’s. ❝ it’s… ❞

      he wants to say: i got to know you, and my soul recognized yours.

      he wants to say: i feel safe with you. you feel like home.

      he wants to say: you feel familiar. i didn’t know one person could be      home.

      he doesn’t know how to put these feelings into words. 

   ❝ you aren’t going to–– to lose this feeling, ❞ he says, and his gaze is       soft, expression gentle. there is an unspoken because you won’t      lose me that hangs between them, a promise of i’ll always be here.   ❝ promise. ❞ there is a moment of childishness, and seven extends     his pinky to her –– the most solemn of bonds, the pact of childhood     dreams that cannot ever be broken.

     there is a pause, and, the promise made, seven takes one of her hands     in both of his for a moment, shooting her another warm smile.

   ❝ i’m…glad i know you. ❞ there is an undercurrent to his, something that      goes unsaid because seven can’t find the proper words for it. ❝ …glad      you’re in my life. and–– and i’m in yours. ❞
