Norman thought that the people of Arab were affected negatively by Arab news networks in Afghanistan and Iraq. Thus he put forward a plan of establishing US-funded satellite Television which could be helpful in improving US image in that region. Then a video by Patti on CBS channel described a successful establishment of Alhurra channel in May 2004. The US government asked for 62 million dollars in its first year of a process by the efforts of Patti. In 2013, they changed the old TV channel into the modern studio for the station which then signed on the air on Feb 14, 2014.
