This is an online space created for the purpose of hosting infographics regarding queer fertility - that is, the process through which queer/LGBTQIA people may want to build a family.
The infographics are made by a freelance (not professionally paid) artist with personal experience in SOME of these fertility procedures. They are sharing information they have acquired through their experience for the purpose of hopefully introducing this topic to someone else who may be interested in it.
This blog is run by the author and artist - Key.
I am agender, use they/them pronouns. I am a twice-over immigrant, and although I've lived in the USA previously, I'm currently living and working in Japan with my partner.
Due to this, most of the information on this blog will lean more Japan-specific since that is what I have more experience with (although I also try to remain aware of other countries' situations with regards to queer reproduction and LGBTQIA family planning.)
I also draw comics about myself and my partner living in Japan. You can find us on @gonkey
If you feel like you know me under a different username, then yeah, you probably do. I am not trying to keep this blog a huge secret, I just wanted to split the content into clean spaces dedicated to specific information.
NO. I am not a medically trained person, and I should not be treated as such.
All the information on this site is meant to be personal and introductory from the perspective of someone who has gone through similar processes.
None of it is meant to replace medical advice from certified experts in the field.
Please do not come to me for medical advice regarding your IVF protocol or fertility diagnoses. I am only able to share anything aside from other sources freely available online.
Yes, you can ask questions about my own experience or general questions about the process.
To ask a question, click here or go to the top of the blog and click 'ask' to use the tumblr message function.
I will answer to the best of my ability - but please keep in mind that I am not a doctor or a certified Reproductive Endocrinologist, and I cannot give you medical advice.
I am not qualified to help you plan the way you want to have a family - but I would be happy to offer information based on my personal experience throughout the journey.
Where possible, please reach out to professionals who are qualified to answer questions specific to your country/region/health situation.
Fostering and adoption are a WHOLE other deep dive that is not really linked in any way to fertility struggles. Adoption and fostering are not direct replacements for fertility struggles - each has a host of its own challenges and rewards that needs to be considered separately from infertility, be it social or physical.
Also, as mentioned above, I am currently living in Japan. The rules for adoption and fostering vary WILDLY by country, and there is a lot of things to consider. I, myself, have not personally gone through the process, and I feel I am fully unqualified to talk about the experience, let alone give out any sort of advice regarding the matter.
If you are interested in adoption and fostering, please take the time to research both the local laws and regulations in your region as well as read up on common issues and difficulties that adopted children face in order to familiarize yourself with the work prior to jumping into it.
