Shenkuu Water Faeries

Based on this post of mine where different regions of the world have different water faeries.

In Shenkuu, there are two ‘varieties’ that are indigenous to the area, “Betta” variety and “Koi” variety.

Both varieties are known for their elusive nature, and beautiful colorings. Like all other water faeries, Shenkuu water faeries are considered wise and solitary creatures, with a fondness for books and poetry. Shenkuu’s government established protective measures to keep both varieties protected from locals wishing to do harm, or tourists who ‘don’t know any better but keep throwing pennies in their swimming grounds’.

The Betta variety are more rare of the two and there have been no reports of Betta water faeries coming in any identical color patterns, though the common theme seen is a dual-chrome and opalescent coloring. While peaceful and tranquil in solitary, Betta water faeries have been reported to engage in aggressive behavior in the presence of other Bettas or even when presented with a reflective surface, such as mirrors. This variety tends to be bottled purely for aesthetic purposes and keeping of these water faeries is considered taboo in Shenkuu culture.
