Made a new aplatonic/aromantic/asexual queer chevron. I’m quite happy with this one. Fellow aplaroaces, feel free to use this one!

okay so after playing around with the chevrons and colour schemes and stuff for a while (read: my adhd decided everything needed to be fixed so i started colouring in a crapton of individual pixels) i’m finally done with my queer flags!

(i edited the transparent queer chevrons in ms paint so that’s probably why it’s very low quality lmao)

If anyone would like to help me out by typing out a small blurb explaining what the queer chevrons are, why they got so popular, their origin, and anythying else you might find relevant about them so I can copy-paste it in the description when I upload it on DA. I can draw you a thing in return!

Something like “Queer chevrons were first suggested by [blahblah] because queer people had been trying to design a flag that represented them and people like them because [blahblah]” 

(Also maybe something that’s better than my image description, (”a stretchy V thing” probably isn’t the best descriptor heh)

The white background (not perfect fff white for sensory processing) is in reference to light, as white light is the combination of all the colors of the rainbow.

IIRC there was one polyamory variant of the revolutionary queer pride flag already, but I was already dicking around with vector files so I went ahead and made another one (right) to match the leather/kink pride on the left.

The vector contains a rectangular cream background, with three independently colorable chevrons, two large and one narrow. I would have made two halves for the background that can also be independently colored, but it was really starting to piss me off, honestly. If you’re using inkscape or similar, it should be very easy to make a half-rectangle to put the chevrons on.

I changed the weight a little bit for the aromatic one since it has more stripes than the asexual one… I wanted to make a queer aroace flag. (: Also made some other half versions. I put captions on the images to make things easier to understand.

I thought I’d go ahead and create a flag that uses the chevron + the palette I have previously suggested.. The symbolism of the colours goes as follows:

The lavender represents the mix of the binary, it is a combination of the gender associated colours pink and blue. Often we are a blend of two things, or inbetween, or we can have attractions to at least both men and women. And we transcend this binary.

The black represents the rejection of what we are assigned, the rejection of what we are expected to be or have. For example the lack of a gender, or the lack of attraction. But the rejection can also mean of society’s norms.

The yellow represents “other”. If you mix paint, you can not get purple, blue or pink out of yellow. This can represent the identities that exist independent of any binaries, identities that are vague or unspecific.

The grey represents the spectrums that make up our communities. The grey-zones, the unclear. It’s the idea that we don’t fit within society’s boxes, we are a grey-zone in society because we do not fit in what a person is often expected to be (which is to conform to cisheteronormativity).
