Was working in the aviary today, think giant metal birdcage, on the side of a hill with no trees around. We heard thunder, and that means we immediately close.

If I tell you we are closed and to please make your way to the nearest exit, there is a REASON. Please for the love of whatever deity you believe in, DO NOT ARGUE WITH ME FOR FIVE MORE MINUTES!

Because I will tell you in front of your kids exactly why we are closing. Because it is now unsafe to remain open and WE DONT WANT TO BE FRIED ALIVE!

And I will not be nice about it, because every minute I have to spend arguing you is another minute that you, me, and my coworkers are in danger.

I don’t care if it isn’t raining yet, we don’t close for rain. We have tarps on the roof for that reason! BUT THE TARPS WONT PROTECT US FROM LIGHTNING INSIDE A METAL CAGE!

And “we are now closed due to the incoming inclement weather and unsafe conditions, please make your way to the nearest exit” DOES NOT MEAN “pretend you don’t hear me and flat out ignore me.” Or “make your way to the exit slower than a snail.”
