Join us as we sit down with Judith Stanford Miller, M.Ed., M.A., writer and producer of the documentary, Crosswinds: The Courageous Life of Cornelia Fort, to explore the life and legacy of the trailblazing pilot who, as a civilian pilot instructor, came nose-to-nose with a Japanese Zero at the Pearl Harbor attack began on Dec. 7, 1941.
In September 1942, Cornelia became the second woman accepted to the U.S. Army Air Forces’ newly formed Women’s Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron, the WAFS. In August 1943, the WAFS merged with the Women Airforce Service Pilots, the WASP. Cornelia had been tragically killed in a mid-air collision four months before on March 21, 1943.
