ESTER EXPÓSITO as Carlota Lilí BANDIDOS: season 2, episode 1
ESTER EXPÓSITO as LILÍ GOMEZ BANDIDOS “El Robo” (2024—)
caroline forbes: blonde, blissful, beautiful.
memories of caroline have been permanently burned into elena's memory. they're six years old, snot nosed and wild eyed. they're fourteen, cheeks rubbed red with blush they had no business wearing. sixteen, seventeen, eighteen. caroline is there by elena's side in the revolving door of her mind. along with bonnie, the three formed a trio. they fought, of course, and there were times where caroline's drive to be the best hovered like a silent spectre. competition seemed inevitable in the petri dish of their small town— even if elena didn't want to compete. pageants, cheerleading, boys. they had once meant so much to her. now, in the wake of the unthinkable, they meant nothing. very little did.
caroline's touch wasn't unfamiliar, but it was still a shock to elena's system all the same. there was an instant pang of regret over the way that her spine instantly stiffened, muscles tightening involuntarily. after the accident, touch had gained a new association: pity. poor elena, they cooed as they all but pat her on the head. their condescensions barely disguised as sympathies were so sickly sweet they made her teeth ache, even though she wasn't the one filling her mouth with them.
the first words from caroline's mouth drew elena's brows together. back from the dead? was that really what she was leading with? most days, elena felt like she should have been dead. had she not almost joined her parents save for some miracle that had plucked her from the water and returned her to the bridge? elena felt like a hollowed out ghost of her former self, glued together by smiles that made her mouth ache. she would have given anything to be as woefully inconsiderate as caroline in that moment.
"no, care, seriously. don't worry about it." the words were an automatic response. "you've been busy, i've been busy. besides, it's not like i've had anything exciting going on. college, right?"
she took the opportunity to extract herself from caroline's grasp. in the quickness of the motion the wail in her throat was choked down once more. it still heated her blood and pounded in her ears, but that was nothing new in the last few months. it was livable now. live around it, live through it. whatever it took.
"so, how have you been? catch me up."
Grief constricted those who had to deal with it. Caroline knew how she must feel, at the very least how it feels to lose a person you love. While she hadn't quite lost her father like Elena did, Caroline remembered not wanting to talk to anyone about her own emotions and worries. It had been easier to busy herself with everything, especially school and any extracurricular courses. But with Elena? A part of her wanted to understand more, just to help, just to know how to exactly approach the situation. Though, Caroline was aware of Stefan and the fact, that he'd so easily made Elena smile, warm up again. At the very least she'd have to thank him one day despite not totally being a fan of her failure to be a part in any of this. Seriously messed up, but Caroline simply smiled, unwilling to share any of her inner monologue to her best friend.
"I'm so glad," Caroline sighed, "you're back and we can finally just start the best college experience together. I have everything mapped out for us, so we're set for the next few months. Plus, a mini fridge for our dorm?" Caroline raised one eyebrow, smirking. However, Elena's next question caught her off-guard. It really shouldn't have, but somehow, it did. "I'm fine, better than fine," Caroline giggled, her typical, slightly anxious one whenever she tried to remain in control. "I've been trying to focus a lot of my energy into cheerleading, mostly, and trying not to get too far behind in college. The usual," with the unusual being left out on purpose. Maybe another time she'd mention Damon, but not tonight. "Actually, Bonbon thought it best if I talk to you in person. She's so worried for no reason, like seriously worried. Must be her being psychic yet again. All I can tell you is, that I'm fine. More than that."

She refused for her soft - skinned heart to bury itself in self - doubt. She’d prefer it to be kept safely, for years, all peeled and naked for those she loves. Which is why she is bristling mildly, concerned ⸻ her own abandonment wounds analyzed and routinely brushed aside. The best friends speak the same language after all: a love that transcends death. Sisterhood that blooms even underneath the darkest of suns. “I haven’t talked to you in days, Care, of course we’re getting right into it. I don’t want you to disappear again.” Voice hushed slightly before the pair received any more glances from the other patrons in the cafe, eyes sparking with warm maternal instincts that perhaps she adopted from her grandmother. “You’d tell me if you were in any trouble, right?” Her drink is left unattended, Bonnie picks at the hangnail on her left index finger absentmindedly. A protectiveness over the blonde that stemmed at the very first meeting ⸻ devotion that never deterred from being ingenuous. The comment about her magic is ignored, brushed aside for her own words of warning, albeit less serious. “You better fill Elena in too. I’m not going to be the messenger.”
"You're being so dramatic for no reason. We don't have to rush through everything in a minute. Maybe just let me breathe for once." Caroline rolled her eyes. There was nothing to talk about, surprisingly. The usual back and forth fell almost flat, like a barrier which Caroline couldn't break through. Like... her mind remained completely blank even if she tried. Still, to look in control, Caroline faked it, not concerned with the actual meaning behind her memory loss. Maybe she simply had too much fun, causing her days to blur at this point. The blonde leaned in closer then after shooting an annoyed grimace at one of the other patrons. Luckily Vicki wasn't here to eavesdrop. "Sorry for snapping at you, Bon, but I really can't tell you," she furrowed her eyebrows. "I did meet a guy, but I promised to keep quiet for now. Ugh," she rolled her eyes and smiled, "Elena's probably happy not hearing from me right now. Have you talked to her in the past few weeks, anyway? She seems so... all over Stefan. Enough about her, or me," Caroline warned, though ended up smiling warmly. "What's going on with you? Anything new?"

Whatever they'd going on, Caroline was into it. She couldn't tell right from wrong, didn't really care about the consequences, but rather about what's in store for her. To be seen, to be admired, she'd set her sights on Damon Salvatore of all people, the older brother of the Stefan Salvatore. So when she actually spotted him sitting at the Mystic Grill, Bourbon in hand, Caroline didn't hesitate to join him. "Damon, hey" she was all smiles and giggles, clearly smitten. "So, daydrinking... rough day?" she sat down, unprompted, "I can keep you company."

With college papers piling up, much time had been invested somewhere else. Still, she considered checking up on Elena her duty as best friend. No other thoughts but warmth and love behind empathy, surely. At least she wouldn't know of any ulterior motives. Which is exactly why the immediate hug didn't stop for a good while, her arms wrapped around Elena like a blanket. "Elena," she followed her worry up with a well meant appraisal, "back from the dead, ugh, finally. We seriously need to catch up. Sorry for not texting the entire time. I didn't really want to make such a fuss out of everything and honestly? I really wanted to give you some space."

She was born with a wooden splinter in her tongue and ever since birth there’s been nothing but the taste of blood to keep her company. Paranoia is inherited and it’s a trait that she could never seem to shake. Bonnie heard that Caroline holds the chin of someone filled with destiny, too poised and slippery. She’s too graceful ⸻ crafted with elegance and historical significance. What did she have? A blade - wound? A father - wound? The sound of the barista’s voice dragged her out of the lethargic state and her mouth opened to answer, venti chai latte. Routine, perhaps, has gotten the best of her. Drink in hand she returns to the small corner table of the cafe where her blonde best friend sits waiting. “You haven’t been returning any of my calls. I thought you were off with that hot guy in our intro class finally.” A rush of a tease as she sits, voice warm and vaguely titled at the end. Bonnie was worrying, but when wasn’t she? “Is everything ok?” @queenlore
Caroline appreciated the late night talks, the coffee dates, the Caroline-planned-everything-up-to-the-very-last-detail trips, which would result in everybody having so much fun. If it wasn't for Bonnie, Caroline wondered if she'd succumbed to more insecurities by now. The obvious light in her life, Bonnie kept it real, especially when Caroline needed a reality check. She grounded the blonde in all the best ways. "We're getting right at it." She had one eyebrow raised, Caroline's smirk unmistakably hinting at something more. Absentmindedly playing with her scarf, her fingers curled around the warm mug filled with chai, Caroline seemed to be in a really good mood. Better than before, visibly... changed. "As much as I'd love to tell you everything, Bon, I seriously can't. Some things just need to be kept secret for now. I hope you don't mind?" she raised her brows, "You can poke me all you like, but I'm fine. I'm really fine," loads of gesturing, her voice pitched higher ever so slightly. This wasn't exactly a topic she wanted to discuss. "For now I'm just enjoying my moment in the sun. "You are not... going to poke my brain with some quote unquote magic, are you, Bon?"
stefan wasn't quite sure why he was even at this party to begin with (no, it had nothing to do with a certain brunette woman -- absolutely not). sure, he needed to keep an eye out for his brother, make sure there were no more 'animal attacks', and whatnot. but as he looked around, he became more and more unsure why he was here at all. he felt someone behind him and turned without looking, holding up his glass to them. "happy almost new year, right?"
Possibly the nicest back in all of Mystic Falls making his grande return. On a night like this, within the crowd, still sticking out like a sore thumb. Handsome, mysterious, seriously tasty just by the look of it. With Stefan's older brother playing a bigger role in her own story as of late, Caroline still couldn't quite let go of the other. There's no shame in looking. "Almost, we're getting there," Caroline smiled sweetly. At least he acknowledged her. A small win for the blonde.
"You don't have to be all on your own tonight. We can count down the seconds together, mh?" Caroline raised one brow, "come on, there's no harm in joining us tonight. Or do we keep pushing the brooding hotty agenda tonight?"
